H&R Block

"Yeah dont go here they dont know what they are doing. I claim 4 people 3 of which are two kids and a newborn. Fee's went up to 230 and my return was 1900 makes no sense. The lady kept saying the kids were eligable but kept not answering my question if she actually put it in the system or not because that return is only a number that makes sense if I WAS SINGLE AND HAD NO KIDS AND CLAIMED NOBODY BUT MYSELF. They scheduled me for another day for a second review but im canceling and going somewhere else."

"When I arrived for my appointment (10 minutes early, mind) the specialist I scheduled with (Meeta) with had moved another client to my spot without informing me, and then insisted that I just make another appointment. This was incredibly inconvenient for me due to my tight schedule, and I had even scheduled my appointment a year in advance to fit it in. Fine, so I make arrangements to have a Zoom appointment instead. When that didn't work out, I emailed the documents to Meeta instead (which worked last year when I filed with her). It's been 3 weeks and I have received no response, neither by email or phone call. I have called the office several times per week to try and get in contact, and only ever get the secretary. Not even a confirmation email that she received my documents. My online profile doesn't show any of the documents, nor has anything been filed for me. Well, it's 1 week before tax season closes, and I have tried unsuccessfully for 3 weeks to contact my tax preparer. I am insulted by the complete lack of communication. I will attempt to file with another service, but if I am unable to file my taxes in time this year, it will be because of H&R."

"Awful experience. Honestly, the worst experience I’ve ever had getting my taxes done. I would not recommend getting your services done here. We had an appointment at 6:00 and didn’t get help until almost 8:00. We remained extremely patient. Once we began to be helped the preparer we had seemed very confused and quite frankly uneducated and scrambled. According to his desk, he had 3 years experience, we surely could not tell. We asked if we should be filing jointly or single being that we got married and he proceeded to tell us that it did not make a difference and recommended filling jointly. After patiently waiting for almost an hour as he seemed confused and overwhelmed, he showed us our return and proceeded to tell us it would be $230. No prices were ever mentioned, the only prices I ever saw was for $80. He felt obliged to apologize for never discussing prices prior to starting. THEY LITERALLY HAVE A SIGN THAT SAYS THEY’RE SUPPOSED TO BE UPFRONT WITH THEIR PRICING. AND THEY WEREN’T. I do not feel reassured that we actually got our maximum return. My husband and I will never return to any H&R Block. This was our first and last experience. And we will be sure to note that no one should ever get their services done here. I could have received a more knowledgeable experience from myself and TurboTax."

"My experience was great with Meeta Maurya!! This is the first in a long time I have been to a H&R Block but I had to see a specialist due to the pandemic. She was polite, helpful, and made sure that I received all that I could get!! Trust me if I didn't have to see someone I wouldn't have. But after other reviews about her I decided to check her out and she did an excellent job!!!"
