"I came here after my knee locked up on me and I couldn't right it myself after a few hours. I was seen by Dr. Raab who was friendly but seemed to rush me in and out of his exam room and dismissed my injury. He saw that I had no range of motion but because the x-rays didn't show anything, he deemed it "patellofemoral syndrome" and specifically said "I don't think it's the meniscus" and that an MRI wasn't necessary. He said he wasn't going to prescribe me any painkillers because he saw that I used "self pay" to pay for the office visit, and he wanted to spare me the expenses, which struck me as rather judgmental. I used "self pay" because they didn't accept my insurance, NOT because I couldn't afford it. He gave a steroid injection in my knee which he assured me would help and that with rest and ice, I'd be back on my feet in no time. Well, it took almost a full week for me to even be able to walk! I was miserable, in excruciating pain, and I left his clinic with more questions than answers. I went to my primary care doctor who recommended an MRI. The MRI showed - surprise, surprise - a meniscus tear! A few months after I was able to schedule meniscus surgery, I called Dr. Raab's office to request records of my x-rays from my visit there. They forwarded my phone call to his voicemail and I never heard a peep from him or his office (except, of course, when they sent me the $486 bill for my visit). I was extremely disappointed in my experience here and I will never, ever recommend them to anyone who wants to be treated with respect and for their concerns to be taken seriously."
"I came to the Orthopedic Urgent Care in February. I injured my lower spine a few weeks prior and hadn't seen much improvement, so I wanted to quickly get an x-ray to see if there was a fracture to know if I needed to take more action, or if I was ok to just rest. The clinic's website states it is "a walk-in clinic designed to treat simple fractures, sprains, strains, work and sports injuries and minor auto accident injuries quickly and affordably." It does not say that you need to call ahead to see what kind of ortho doctor is in today, or else you will be told to seek treatment elsewhere. I arrived at 8:00, the waiting room was empty and no one appeared busy. The woman at the front asked what I needed to be seen for and I said I injured my tailbone and wanted to make sure I did not have a fracture. She stopped her manager who was passing by. This was the office administrator for the clinic, Mary Peters. Mary said 'We have a hip doctor in here today, you'll have to go to a spine specialist.' I said I just wanted a quick x-ray to ensure I don't have a fracture. She continued to argue, saying they wont do anything for that injury and to make an appointment with a specialist, and again reiterating that the immediate care doctor is a hip doctor. I again said I just want to ensure I don't have a fracture. Mary seemed annoyed and said I can 'be seen if I want' and walked away. If I went to a regular Immediate Care, they would have no problem taking me back, doing an x-ray, and then based on that helping me assess if I need a specialist or just need rest. A third woman, who listened to the exchange and took my ID's then said, "And you know it's a hip doctor today, right??" At this point it is bizarre, the staff and the manager are really emphasizing that their immediate care doctor only does hips and that I should leave. What if I had come in for a sprained ankle? A fractured wrist? I would have been told the same thing; "we have a hip doctor today, they won't do anything for you." I had an ortho injury and was being told to not seek treatment at an ortho immediate care. There was a state-wide mask mandate, as well as a mask policy at the clinic. When I did finally get taken back, all was fine, got an x-ray and waited in the exam room for the doctor. He comes in with his mask below his mouth. This was during the Omicron surge. He sees his patient in a mask and a face shield, and he could not be bothered to wear his mask properly and protect his patients as per state and clinic policy. I was visibly uncomfortable and as he talked he would make halfhearted attempts to pull it over his mouth, but it would immediately slip back down. I felt extremely unsafe, being in this tiny (estimating 8'x10') enclosed exam room with a man who couldn't be bothered to wear his mask during a global pandemic. I called the office after my appointment to discuss this with the office administrator, Mary. I had not known until I called that it was Mary who had been part of the issue. She realized she acted inappropriately and apologized for both that incident and the incident with the doctor, and she said she would address the mask issue with the doctor. When discussing her actions, she said that "Patients get mad when there isn't much treatment involved" meaning that if I didn't have a fracture, I would've been told to just get some rest at home. I told her that I had said at the time I just wanted to know if I had a fracture, that it is not right to make assumptions about patients or how they will react or attempt to deny care based on how you "think" a patient will behave. Between my experience with the staff, with whom I had to argue for the right to be seen for an orthopedic injury at an orthopedic urgent care, and being made thoroughly unsafe by a doctor who could not be bothered to wear his mask in an enclosed room during a mandate in a global pandemic, it is clear that the staff, Mary, and procedures should be reviewed internally for safety and professionalism."
"The IBJI immediate ortho care was the way to go when I was having pain and couldn’t walk. I arrived at about 7:00pm on Friday night and was immediately checked in by the sweetest girl. My wait time was only about 10 minutes, not even enough time to fill out paperwork. The nurse, X-ray tech and doctor were all very professional and accommodating. Way better experience than my usual urgent care facility. If needed I know where I’ll be going."
"I have received excellent care @ IBJI under Dr. Breslow. They get you in quickly and the staff is very friendly and willing to chat for a few moments. The facility is clean and modern. Once in the exam room it was clean with sanitizer. I would recommend them to anyone that needs quality care with a very professional staff that will treat you as a person not just a pay check."
"Good luck at this facility. There are some great doctors, but trying to get to them is another matter entirely. Front desk staff varies between polite and rude, wait time varies between minutes and hours. Telephone access to some physicians is excellent, others just want you to make an appointment in six months. My family has seen 7 different doctors at this facility. One doctor threw my chart on the desk and said " see someone else," another is always fantastic. Administrative customer service is usually poor."
