The receptionists although, are rude and unprofessional especially when answering the phone. Give attitude for no reason. Makes me feel uncomfortable and not want to go back."

"I love this Dr.s office so for! I've been going there for about 6 yrs and I've had no problems at all! My Dr. Dr. Mercado has been great to me he sits and listens and makes sure he takes care of everything before he leaves the room! And Gladys she's the greatest? She's always happy! Always listens to you! And the staff are awesome! Keep it up FOX VALLEY MEDICAL IT TAKES ALL OF YOU TO MAKE A GREAT TREAM! JUST KNOW YOUR APPRECIATED!"

"It's a shame I have to write an even more grim review than my mother did about this guy, but here I am.... My mother met Dr. Mercado at Delnor while she was being treated for one of many stays there for things from kidney failure to a life-threatening bowel blockage (thank you, taken-as-prescribed opiate painkillers) and saw quite a few doctors. However, she really took a liking to Dr. Mercado and asked her primary care physician if she could switch to him and she did. As her caretaker for the last 13-14 years, I took her to all of her doctor visits as she also saw Dr. Begov, her nephrologist, who was great to her. To this day I'm not sure what happened, but 8 or 9 months ago, Dr. Mercado dropped my mother as a patient and forbid her to see any of the other doctors at Fox Valley Medical Associates including her nephrologist. The office claimed that "a person with a female voice" was calling in and berating the staff. I do have a sister who is mentally ill but to this day she swears it wasn't hear and I don't have any reason to not believe her. Recently my mother was in the hospital over Christmas, then back in again the day she was released, then to rehab, then back to the hospital, and now in rehab again. We are now discussing hospice care because it's not looking good for her. That being said, the facility she's in now is one that Mercado sees patients at, but he refused to see her... a dying woman. When she was dropped as a patient despite never personally doing anything to upset anyone at that office, whom she all knew by name, it hurt her really bad. She's very sick but also very depressed, and she was absolutely crushed by the news that the very people with whom she trusted with her LIFE wouldn't even speak to her any more. So I reached out to him, hoping to speak with him on the phone and to ask for him to see her just a few more times while she's unfortunately fading away, but he couldn't even call me back... instead he had an assistant or receptionist do it with the reason being "she's not a patient of Dr. Mercado" to which I responded "well she's not the patient of Dr. Patel either" and was then hung up on. How can you be so heartless? What did this poor woman ever do to you? Why would you FORBID her from seeing her nephrologist? Shame on you."

"We have been very, very pleased with the treatment and care provided by Dr. Mercado for our mother while in the hospital and while in the nursing home. He has on 2 occasions called me back personally when I have left questions with his staff, rather than having them call me. He speaks to my mother with compassion and dignity. He stays on top of changes in medication."

"My heart is broken. I trusted the staff with my well being for years. I saw Dr. Branshaw, Dr. Begov and Dr. Mercado for years. I’m 69 years old and rely on my son for care. While under the care of these doctors I had several life-threatening episodes where they oversaw things at Delnor and they helped save me. I held these doctors in high regard and looked at them as life savers. I just got a certified letter from Dr. Sergio Mercado saying that I was never allowed back to see him, my nephrologist Dr. Begov (who is outstanding) or anyone else. I have always been nice to every member of the staff and so has my son who has accompanied me on almost all of my visits there. For all intents and purposes, they fired me because they claim someone with a femal voice who was not me, called and demanded a pain killer, tramadol. Tramadol is a drug that has side effects that have put me in the hospital on more than one occasion including potentially deadly bowel blockages. I would never want to take it again because I know it will kill me. Right now I feel helpless and want to die. Im so ashamed at the way I’ve been treated like some sort of criminal. I have COPD and chronic pain and I know I don’t have much time left. My anxiety is so bad that it’s taken me an hour to type this out because my hands are shaking. I feel like a dog who has been left out in the cold to die for no reason and I’m scared. I thought my doctors truly cared about me and don’t understand why I’ve been dropped. I can’t stop crying and am afraid of what will happen if I don’t have them to rely on. This is my first review of anything in all of my years and I can’t believe it’s about my doctors who me and my son trusted with my life. They threw me away like I was trash and I feel lower than low. They won’t even talk to me and can’t prove who called in demanding that I have the tramadol drug. I’m unable to yell or scream since I have 25% oxygen capacity and from what i remember they told me the person who they complain about was aggressive on the phone. I was also admitted to the hospital that day. I’m not sure how much time I have left or if I even want to live through this humiliation. My heart is in pieces. I loved those doctors. They were saints, but apparently a dying 90 pound old lady on Medicare/Medicaid was just too much for them. Shame on Dr. Mercado for being so heartless to me. I thought he truly cared about my well being but apparently not. And shame on him for not allowing me to see my nephrologist after I almost died of acute kidney failure in 2011."
