"Excellent ASA 101 experience. Captain Tex is an outstanding teacher who took time to calibrate the lessons toward my experience level and learning style. When I told him I was confused about Right of Way rules, he gave me some historical context that made it all make sense — the rules are not just arbitrary! Tim and Sean were responsive while booking, and I’m looking forward to coming back for charter, practice and 103. Wish I had done this years ago."

"We just finished our ASA 101 training with Captain Scott, and he was very kind when explaining how we inadvertently made the sailboat do crazy things! LOL Captain Scott is a skilled sailor and a wonderful instructor... I'd take another class from him any time. Captain Tim, one of the owners, met with my wife and me before we decided to take the lessons. He spent all the time needed to answer all of our questions and explain the process. Lake Travis is a good place to take your sailing training, the winds come from all directions and are constantly changing. We are looking forward to further honing our sailing skills and sailing with Outbound Sailing. We highly recommend you check them out if you're thinking about learning to sail."

"I recently completed ASA 104 with Tim Taylor of Outbound Sailing. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience of sailing with him, and living aboard "Boomerang" for three days, but perhaps more importantly, the training I received was first rate. I'm an FAA certificated flight instructor and corporate trainer for a living, and I'm pretty picky about teaching--being an expert does not automatically make one a good teacher (indeed, it's well known in the industry that it quite often does the opposite, since experts find it hard to understand why learners don't just "get it" already). But Tim did an excellent job of identifying the areas that I understood well and moving on (thereby saving time) and of spotting where I had misunderstood, or overlooked something, and taking extra time for more explanation or more practice. He also didn't skimp just because our time allocation was up; we were late finishing on our last day as he took the extra time to ensure that we didn't omit a minor but relevant part of the curriculum. Tim is clearly highly experienced and skilled both as a sailor and also as a teacher. I highly recommend him and his school. Images: - decent wind and heeling nicely - hove to - running downwind wing-on-wing with a gybe preventer in place"

"Had a great time learning how to handle a 30 ft boat on Lake Travis with Kurt. ASA 101 complete and already signed up for the Pico boat training and ASA 103 classes with Outbound Sailing. Great communication about what was needed in advance: RTFM!"

"We thoroughly enjoyed our class with Outbound Sailing! Neither my wife nor I had ever sailed before and did not know what to expect. Captain Karl took the time needed to put us at ease and answer any questions we had. By the end of the first day we were comfortably moving about on board and operating under sail. Day two had us spending most of the day on the water with little supervision after completing the written test. I think its safe to say that we have caught the sailing bug and are looking forward to getting more hours out on the water. Booking the courses was simple and communication about what to expect was clear and concise. Thank you Outbound Sailing!"
