About the Business

Yaqui Animal Rescue

Yaqui Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter located at 500 Venecia Drive in Sullivan City, Texas. Situated on an 80-acre ranch near the border of Mexico, we are dedicated to rescuing and caring for over 250 animals, including cats, dogs, horses, cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, and turtles.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, vet, and find forever homes for as many animals as possible in the Rio Grande Valley. We strive to provide spay and neuter services to all animals in need and increase adoptions in our community.

Through The Stray Project, we offer free spay/neuter and vaccination services to stray animals and assist low-income families in sterilizing their pets. This initiative has prevented thousands of unwanted litters from being born since its inception in 2019.

We rely on donations to fund our rescue efforts and spay/neuter clinics. Your support helps us tackle the stray overpopulation problem and provide care for innocent animals in need.

If you're looking to adopt a furry friend, browse our selection of animals available for adoption. Ready to open your home to a pet in need? Apply to become a foster today. Interested in joining our team of dedicated animal rescuers? We welcome volunteers to join us in our mission of saving lives and finding loving homes for all animals.

"Heard the shout out for your animal rescue on the H3 Podcast. Shout out to the work you all do, from a fellow Texan. Peace and love!"

"This organization is absolutely amazing. They are a non profit no kill animal rescue and, even when overwhelmed and over capacity, they do everything in their power to help every animal in need."

"The people that run this rescue are responsible for showing the world the gangrenous monster that stole dogs from their rescue and many others. And they saved them. They went to good homes, their lives were saved. The way Yaqui Animal Rescue (Becca and D especially but you’re all amazing) fought for those dogs in Chandler and the unquantifiable amount of dogs that were already too far gone speaks volumes as to their compassion and drive for their animals. Yaqui animal rescue — if a mama bear ran a rescue."

"Volunteered my personal time for this association because of my love for animals and philanthropy. Was very shocked and disappointed to be yelled at and treated disrespectfully by one of the administrators, Sonia Venecia. I guess that’s just what happens when you give the wrong people a little bit of a authority; they abuse it. Was then accused of stealing something at the event I volunteered at by the same woman who spoke to me in screams when I did interact with her. I did not steal but it just shows how disorganized they are and how quickly they want to point fingers at anyone but themselves. Donate to a better organization that treats animals and people better."

"I loved seeing all the animals. Wish I could've taken a couple of them home. The vocal ensemble I'm in raised funds for Yaqui together and dropped of the donation, and they gave us a tour and showed us all the animals. All the animals were so cute and friendly!"
