About the Business

Texas Foundation for Animal Care

The Texas Foundation for Animal Care is a veterinary care institution located at 1120 South Henderson Street in Fort Worth, Texas, United States. They specialize in the treatment of heartworm in dogs, with a total of 2652 successfully treated cases. The institution offers two different treatment plans for heartworms - Traditional Treatment (fast kill) and Alternative Treatment (slow kill). Payment is due at the time of consultation, with the option of a payment plan for Traditional Treatment. Heartworm prevention is essential during treatment and is available for $30-$40 for a 6 month supply.

During the consultation, Dr. Elkins will examine your pet and discuss the best treatment plan based on their health and history. The treatment process includes injections and medication, with strict kennel rest and monitoring at home. After the final injection, pets can gradually return to normal activity and will be retested for a negative heartworm status 6 months later.

Appointments are available on Wednesdays and Thursdays, with weekend clinics held once a month. For more information and to book an appointment, visit their website.

"Best place for low-cost pet dental cleaning and services in Fort Worth. The staff is so kind and helpful, and they really take care of your pets like their own. I've had a better experience booking here than at TCAP, which provides similar services. It's so convenient to text the staff, and they'll get back to you the same day during business hours. I'm so thankful to have been able to get my dog's teeth cleaned for nearly 1/4 of the cost of a commercial vet, which would have been at least $800 — before extractions! I also really appreciate that Texas Foundation for Animal Care is 100% transparent about pricing and lists every service on the website, including heartworm treatment, annual shots and prevention medications. A big thank you to Dr. Jenny and the wonderful staff of this giant-hearted nonprofit for making the cost of pet ownership feel much more manageable."

"I adopted 2 dogs from the shelter who happened to be heartworm positive. They're cheaper than the vet to get your dogs treated across the board for serious health issues with dogs. I haven't seen cats there, but I I'll ask when I go back."

"OMG I love them! I rescued a dog from Edinburgh Texas who had been dumped on the side of a road and was living in a ditch for at least 6 months. He's a older guy and tested positive for heartworm disease. This is the place to go for caring and compassionate treatment that doesn't break the bank!!"
