"I don't typically leave reviews, but I really feel the need to address my experience at Synapse. To make a long story short, my life had slowly degraded over 16 years after sustaining a TBI in 2004, and the VA was doing everything in it's power to ignore this fact and only treat the cooccurring disorders as they presented themselves as opposed to addressing the core issue. All of that changed when a friend reached out and put me in contact with people that wanted me to give this clinic a shot. I didn't have much to go on when I showed up, but the doctors and clinicians on staff wasted no time in making sure I understood everything I would be doing and how it would help me. I not only learned more about how the brain functions but, more specifically, how my own brain functions and ways to nurture and care for my mental health beyond just talking about it. I learned how to feed my brain and how to take advantage of my own natural neuroplasticity. Three months after treatment, it's still odd for me to say that 10 days gave me my life back, but that's the truth of the matter. I have more mental clarity, and my cognitive processing seems to improve every day. I've noticed that I'm more in touch with my emotions and I'm more empathetic overall.
