"Having never been in physical therapy I was unaware of the actual cost and did not do my due diligence and ask the questions I should have. Lesson learned, do your research beforehand. After a hip replacement I had the option of home health or PT. My surgeon recommended PT and I was referred to OakbBend PT which is downstairs from his practice. I attended 7 sessions with a copay of $38 each. Reasonable. Then afterwards I was billed for $296 more. When I asked for an itemized bill of the charges I found the rate was $750 per hour. While my insurance paid for a large portion of that it seemed steep so I looked online for the average cost of PT which I found was around $400. Why does OakbBend charge almost double that? In hindsight I should have done home health care and found exercises on YouTube as my income does not support this kind of expense. Hindsight is 20/20. My advice if you decide to do PT is shop around and ask pricing."
