"A cozy little liquor store the staff was friendly no issues."

"Went in this store with my nephew to accompany my dad to buy beers. Once we were at the cashier to get ringed up, the cashier asked for my dad’s ID along with ours too (me and my nephew are both underage). Even though we weren’t buying any beers and were just accompanying my dad to get his. They had said that didn’t matter l, that we were inside with him and needed to show ID in order to get them. We didn’t have our ID on us and they had said that they couldn’t sell it to him since we were with him. We had said that if we can wait outside then for him to purchase the beers and they said no since they know we are with him. Saying “it is Illinois law” even though I have NEVER heard such thing when I have gone with my dad to just accompany him at others stores in Illinois. It’s frustrating how we can’t even go into a store without being told to leave, and it’s not even like I’m going to drink the beers with him, but if someone did want to, the law allows for a minor over around the age of 13 to be able to legally drink with an accompanying adult/legal guardian but there isn’t anything saying that minors can’t go into a liquor store without being 21 it’s not like I am going to buy any. My day was going so well and my Christmas ruined I was trying to have a good time and because this experience it got ruined."
