"Staff seems friendly but does not is not person centered. More of a prison than a hospital. Staff won't let you speak to family over the phone nor do they let you see them. You can only call after 6 pm but they will screen your call and ignore the request. They will only let you see family on Thursday from 630 pm to 7 pm. DHR behavioral center down the street from here is so much better and family oriented."

"Avoid this facility As an advocate for a patient’s family, this facility was very uncooperative and impossible to work with. The patient was an out-of-state college student and so the family traveled 1,500 miles to Texas to support her. Visitors were locked out of the facility and this out of town family stayed in a hotel. The refugee family went under great emotional and financial stress and one of the front desk staff appeared dismissive and very unhelpful. We were considering legal recourse because she went in and could not get out. When we talked about leaving against medical advice, they shut down this possibility by making her subject to a judge. We were not invited to appear before the court when this decision was made. The patient is back home and is in a wonderful, family friendly behavioral facility. The staff are personable, friendly, and work with family and friends. Texas has different laws and restrictions. Clearly mental health care is superior here. And family is embraced here but not in South Texas Health System Behavioral"

"Worse service ever! Did not inform a parent about a minor being admitted. Staff lacked proper education and protocol when admitting a minor especially without a parents consent, no accountability was taken by any of the staff. Called and spoke to the admissions supervisor who then transferred to the house supervisor who answered and quickly placed the call on hold without asking for any of my information or the reason for the call, suddenly she was in a “meeting” meanwhile she was being informed by staff of the nature for the call and was advised it was urgent. I politely waited for her to return my call which she did not, so when I did call she did not provide any help whatsoever, this place lacks prioritization, compassion, and empathy. I can just imagine how they treat the minors at this facility, let me make it clear you did not have a parents permission to admit a minor! Gods willing my child will be out soon but the effects of being admitted to this facility will linger."

"This facility seemed really nice when my daughter checked in. As the evaluation process started it seems like they began to take advantage of patients not knowing their rights. They aren’t discharging patients when the voluntary treatment is over then asking them to sign paperwork to stay longer. The NP then tells my daughter if you don’t sign the paperwork to stay longer your insurance won’t pay and you will be billed for staying here. She arrived on Saturday and should have been released on Monday by 4pm according to Texas Law and Patient Bill of Rights. This facility needs to be investigated for violating patient rights and state laws."

"Checked in voluntarily. When I tried to leave on my own accord I was told by a nurse that I could not leave until the doctor signed off. In violation of my patient rights. I had to argue with the nurses and reference the Patient Bill of Rights, called my lawyer and threaten to sue before they allowed me to leave. $20,600 bill for a two night stay. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU DON'T ACCEPT YOUR INSURANCE. Appointment with the doctor lasted less than 3 min. Appointment with the psychiatrist was approximately 10 min. If you need help I recommend looking elsewhere. My partner brought me a book and a change of clothes that were never given to me, when I asked I was told nothing had been dropped off for me. Two of the nurses and most of the nurse technicians were great. The other workers were terrible to be around."
