"I absolutely love Dr Jemelka! I have been seeing her for about 8 years and, even though, I have moved out of Texas, I STILL travel back to the Houston area and use her as my GYN. She’s just that worth it. She’s honest and has great bedside manners. Overall, she takes the time to listen and genuinely cares to know about me and my concerns!! This is so rare to find in doctors these days."
"I've been going to Dr Jamelka for awhile, I got diagnosed with PCOS and i was having extremely heavy periods and I felt like I was stressing that at every appointment. Every appointment went the same, I told her my period were excruciating And I was always met with "well thats what happens when you're overweight." But it always felt wrong because even when I was lighter, my period was horrible to me. This was every single appointment, up until it got to the point where I was calling off of work for the entire week of my period, and I was prescribed 800mg's of IBU and told to lose weight. Finally, my mom called the office and forced them to have an ultrasound done for my pain since I had never had one (surprisingly), and what we saw was a cyst on my uterus (which later we found out it was on my fallopian tube) the size of a new born childs head. Immediately I began progesterone shots and when that didnt work, I got taken into surgery. And whats crazy is that, I know it wasnt this big when I was complaining about the amount of pain I was in, but I kept getting dismissed because I am a bigger woman (this is over a year of appointments). I had a life threatening cyst in my fallopian tube that if it would have flipped, could have sent me into shock and killed me, and i KNEW something was wrong early on, but because of my weight, i was repeatedly dismissed. After my surgery I was told I was a "special case", and "We're so glad we caught it." But I had no one to thank than my mom because she went to bat for me and made it to where they needed to take an ultra sound. Fast forward to today, earlier this year I am having to start the same pains again, (that sent me to the ER) and I'm so scared about it. I thought to make an appointment and I scheduled it a month in advance only to be called the day before, to be told that if I couldn't pay the almost $900 physician fee that i didn't pay for my surgery, my appointment was going to be cancelled and I wouldn't be able to make another appointment until its paid. Earlier this year, my dad had called the insurance to verify this but the insurance told him there was no balance and when he tried reaching out to the office to get the receipt for what he's paying for, he was met with nothing. So I called to clarify and turns out it was sent to collections already, meaning the office has already received their payment, and now I have to settle it with the collection agency, NOT the office. But yet, somehow I'm still being withheld care because the debt collectors aren't getting their money. I'm calling the office back, seeking to understand but the only thing Sharee is capable of telling me is that nothing can be done until this is fully paid. (Unwilling to answer any questions, just reminding me of when we last talked about it as if its something to throw in my face.) I don't understand because I know the way debt collectors work, they buy out my debt and then I pay the money to them. So the debt is now with another predatory company, and no longer with the physician, so why cant I get care for symptoms of a cyst, that has been life threatening to my health in the past? After my pain being dismissed over a year because of my weight, and now this, I decided to just give up here and find another doctor that will listen to my needs and hopefully have a better support staff because this support staff, for lack of better words, is terrible and lacks empathy."
"Note that if you are seeing Dr. Jemelka for endometriosis she will not treat you until you enroll in Creighton Model classes through the Catholic Church, both a FINANCIAL and time heavy obligation, in addition to what you pay to see her. My experience was I had to pay “cash price” which was nearly $300 to see her as a new patient. Outrageous cash price, but okay. I told the woman in the front office that my insurance covered Dr. Jemelka and her treatment. I had already spoken with my insurance before booking the appointment and if she would just call the number on the back of my card and SPEAK to someone, she would be able to verify it. She refused to verify my information. It’s funny because the “financial counselor” sat being a sign that literally stated, “We will do everything we can to verify insurance and coverage,” but she could not call a number and refused to listen to me. As someone who worked in a surgeons office myself and knows how insanely easy this is to do, it was maddening at the level of laziness. So I paid $300 and sucked it up. I had a short meeting where I was given a list of supplements I should take and was told I had to enroll in a course that taught me the Creighton model. Okay, I enroll in the course and am assigned a “counselor..” THAT is $100+ for the first visit and $75 a pop after that. The visit over FaceTime took nearly THREE hours. And I was supposed to check in with her every week. Working full time, having multiple children and a husband who works out of town, plus I was volunteering at my church 2x a week left little to no time to work in these $75 counseling sessions that was just tracking my cervical mucus. On my second appointment, when I told her I could not continue to see the counselor and spend the additional time and money, she (Dr. Jemelka) basically lost it on me. She spent the entire time chastising me on not doing the work and following through. She said my chart did not have enough detail. I told her I kept VERY detailed notes on my phone exactly as I was taught, but it was easier for me to do on my phone instead of the paper booklet that I received because of my work situation. She wouldn’t hear it. Didn’t want to see my chart on my phone. Said she couldn’t do anything and that this appointment was “pointless.” I then was charged $200 for a “pointless” appointment. When looking at the diagnosis codes on my bill, because I do believe she puts more codes to bulk up the bill and charge higher rates, I noticed she labeled me as obese. Which was funny. I was postpartum, breastfeeding, and lift weights. I have a very muscular build and was still a size 6 at 5’9”. She didn’t bring up my weight or being obese once in the appointment while she scolded me. Anyway, extremely disappointed. I was driving over an hour and taking off of work to be condescended to and dismissed. I chose another doctor elsewhere and actually received healthcare."
"I just visited this wonderful woman for the first time and baby let me tell you she came into the exam room, sat down on her stool, set down her files, put her elbows on her knees and got eye-to-eye with me and talked straight to ME! She did not bury her face in a computer or in that file. She looked at ME! Moreover, she didn't ask me stupid questions that were already in that lengthy file I had to complete prior to my visit. She already read it!! She was telling me all about "me" based on what she'd already read. THIS is the kind of doctor I can work with. She was also honest about NOT being able to immediately begin handling my perimenopause issues because of some other indicators that needed addressing FIRST. She didn't want to improperly do HER job because another set of health concerns needed to be balanced first. What I'm saying is...she did not waste her time and she certainly didn't waste mine. It was an effective visit. She was VERY pleasant, honest, forthright yet spoke with a level of compassion and understanding that actually made me VERY happy on the way out the door. I'm looking forward to my next visit. (And I've got to give some love to the staff, particularly the woman at the checkout window. Anyone who bothers to learn my rather unique and complicated name, and use it as I left the office, is a winner in my book.) Dr. Weaver is a rare diamond in an industry of doctors who don't even take the time to read the patient file, look us in the eye and actually talk to her patients!"
"This doctor’s office is completely unprofessional and they lack the care and compassion for their future patients. I am 11 weeks pregnant. At 9 weeks, I called Dr. Jemelka’s office to schedule an appointment. They took 2 weeks to respond and let me know that she was able to take me as a new patient. My fiancé and I took off and rearranged our day to ensure we were on time and made it to the appointment. I spent 2 hours completing the new patient intake form that had numerous spelling and grammar errors. One question was so confusing that I put a question mark by it. That was the first sign of unprofessionalism. Secondly, an hour and a half before my appointment, the office called me telling me that they needed to reschedule my appointment because Dr. Jemelka JUST noticed that morning that I saw another doctor in their group 4 years ago. Due to this, Dr. Jemelka could not take me as a patient. I was furious. This should have been accounted for while I was waiting for 2 weeks for her to review my information. The receptionist who called was so nonchalant about the situation & thought an apology was enough. She had the nerve to say “I’m giving you a courtesy call so you wouldn’t have to drive all the way up here.” There was nothing courteous about that call. You canceled my appointment an hour and a half before which is completely UNACCEPTABLE. They completely wasted my time. While I’m waiting for 2 weeks, I could have found another doctor and been seen by now. Each day that past is a day I go without care. Their actions showed me that they are not thorough enough and they lack compassion and care for incoming patients. I would not recommend this doctors office to anyone. They suck!"
