About the Business

Lindheimer Home

Lindheimer Home, located at 491 Comal Avenue in New Braunfels, Texas, is a museum and tourist attraction that offers visitors the opportunity to step back in time and experience the rich history of the Texas Hill Country. The award-winning museum and event venue showcases 19th century German Texan structures that have been rescued and preserved by the New Braunfels Conservation Society.

When you tour Historic Old Town, you will have the chance to explore a variety of historic buildings that tell the story of New Braunfels' hospitality and heritage. From an original Sunday house to an old-fashioned saloon, a garage with a restored 1907 REO automobile, and a music studio where lessons were once given, there is something for everyone to enjoy. You can also sit at a desk in a one-room limestone schoolhouse from 1870, view 19th century tools used by German Texan craftsmen, and compare different styles of fachwerk found in the oldest structures in New Braunfels.

In addition to the main site, Lindheimer Home also offers off-site historic properties including the 1845 home of Ferdinand Lindheimer, the "Father of Texas Botany", the 1853 Arnold-Rauch-Brandt Homestead, the 1883 Buckhorn Barbershop, and the 1858 Gerlich-Wagenfuehr Haus. Visitors can even book a stay at the Gerlich-Wagenfuehr rentals located in downtown New Braunfels.

Don't miss out on the NBCS Events held at Lindheimer Home, including the Historic Home Tour, Antiques and Makers Show, and Wurstfest. For those looking to stay in the heart of downtown New Braunfels, Lindheimer Home offers historic vacation rentals.

Plan your visit to Lindheimer Home and experience the history and charm of New Braunfels. The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday, with morning and afternoon hours. Please note that Lindheimer Home is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
