About the Business

Peace Circle

Peace Circle is a historic institution located at 815 South Main Street in Grapevine, Texas, United States. The institution is dedicated to preserving the memory of a significant moment in history when Republic of Texas President Sam Houston met with 10 American Indian chiefs/captains on the Grape Vine Prairie in 1843. The institution features 11 bronze statues representing Sam Houston and the tribal leaders, symbolizing a spirit of friendship, peace, and trust.

The dedication ceremony for Peace Circle included representatives from tribal nations, the Sam Houston Memorial Museum, and the Peace Circle Advisory Committee. The ceremony honored the Indigenous People who have lived on the Grape Vine Prairie and reaffirmed the commitment to peace and friendship that was promised in 1843.

The institution also hosts educational events and demonstrations to celebrate the rich history and culture of the Cherokee, Chickasaw, and other tribal nations. Visitors can explore the Peace Plaza and learn about the Treaty at Bird's Fort, which defined Indian Nations and European settlement boundaries in Texas.

Peace Circle is a place where visitors can learn about the historic meeting between Sam Houston and the American Indian chiefs/captains, and reflect on the importance of friendship, peace, and unity among different cultures. Visit Peace Circle to experience a piece of history and celebrate the legacy of those who worked towards peace and understanding.
