About the Business
Center City of Amarillo, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and revitalizing Amarillo's historic downtown area. Established in 1991, Center City is recognized as a Texas and National Main Street City. Our volunteer board of directors works tirelessly to bring people to downtown Amarillo through various initiatives such as organization, events, promotion, design, and economic restructuring.
Located at 1000 S. Polk St. in the historic Bivins Building, Center City envisions downtown Amarillo as a vibrant neighborhood that bridges the past and the future. Our calendar of events is filled with exciting activities, including the Senior Banners program, Imagine the Possibilities Tour, High Noon on the Square, Jazztober, and the Electric Light Parade.
In addition to hosting events, Center City offers programs like Façade Grants to support businesses in the downtown area, historical tours for school and civic groups, and partnerships with other organizations for special initiatives. Our mission is to make downtown a better place to live, work, play, learn, and worship. Visit us to experience the rich history and vibrant culture of downtown Amarillo.
