"Amarillo boulevard was originally NE 8th Ave, also known as "motel row" and was officially renamed to "Amarillo Blvd" in 1964. Amarillo boulevard is the original alignment of route 66 through Amarillo, although it is a shell of what it used to be back in the 50's and 60's. Many of the original buildings are still there but are in rough shape. Most vintage signs are in bad condition with almost 100% of the vintage neon being lost. What used to be a three lane road with a concrete median and centrally placed lamp posts has been reduced to a two lane road with a dangerous turning lane. All that being said it's probably one of the best places for Amarillo dining and at night is one of the only places with restaurants open."
