Kerber Smiles Pediatric Dentistry

"The staff and office environment was warm and friendly. However, I did not care for Dr. Kerberts bedside manor or approach at all. I brought my 2 year old in for her first exam/ cleaning. I was in shock when Dr. Kerbert instructed me to hold her on my lap and then had me help hold her down. My 2 year old began freaking out and crying while Dr. Kerbert began the cleaning. I told the Dr. I thought this was very traumatic and unnecessary as I felt my daughter would have cooperated if we took a little extra time and used the right approach. She replied she had been doing this for many years and seemed annoyed by my comment. After a minute of my daughter screaming her head off I finally stopped the cleaning and told her we were done. Before exiting the office I politely told the Dr. that many pediatric dentists practice atramatic care and will try to take the time to get young children to cooperate vs. hold them down. I was totally mind blown that a pediatric specialist would not even attempt to get a child to cooperate prior to restraining them and forcefully cleaning their teeth. I would not have been opposed to her methods were it medically necessary and we tried a less traumatizing approach first. But for that to be the standard of care with small children was sad and disheartening. I fear my daughter will be more resistant to a future dentist and maybe even her pediatrition after the trauma she endured from Dr. Kerbert."

I had trouble with requesting an appointment online, but as soon as I just made a phone call, everything was smooth from there. The online forms were convenient, the reminders were helpful and all of the staff was friendly and helpful. The woman who cleaned my son’s teeth was SO good with him and he did great with her prompting and friendly personality. Dr. Kerber was just the same. I would highly recommend them."
