"Absolutely terrible system. There is no clear direction on location, their parking lot requires you pull a ticket with no validation information on their website. They also require a ridiculous amount of disclosures and forms before you can even schedule an appointment. Not even sure why they bother having a health center when it's clear they don't actually want students to use it. You'd be better off going to CVS."
"I am an out of state student and went to the health center 2 times to get some issues with my women’s health sorted out. I was told she was going to take some blood from me both times to get things “figured out” but was not told what tests would be run but that it would be billed to my insurance and that I would only need to worry about my charge on my uh account. Now months later I am receiving bills in the mail of over 1,000 dollars in tests most of which I didn’t know where being ran and were not even solved by any physician at uh. I was referred by them to go somewhere else which costed even more in medical bills. Very unprofessional physicians and not transparent with pricing etc. Not good for college students or to be marketed as “affordable care” on campus"
"I had been sick all week right before finals week, and I made an appointment easily through AccessUH and the Nurse and Nurse practitioner were extremely kind and sweet. I got diagnosed with Strep Throat and then given my prescription all within 45 min. I have no insurance, but everything was not expensive. About $15 for the test, $25 for coming into the office and $22 for my prescription. Very easy and fast."
"Please do a better job next time and PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW IN ADVANCE OF ALL REQUIREMENTS BEFORE ANY APPOINTMENT. I called them to schedule an appointment for a physical and I was never made aware of having to fast before the appointment. Then once I got there the worker asked me if I fasted before this appointment in which I didnt and he said because of it I couldnt complete the physical."
"Pharmacy: They are quick on refills and usually take no more than 5 minutes to prepare them if they have not already been done. They always go over my prescriptions with me, which isn't necessary, but I'd rather have the information repeated to me than miss something important. Health clinic: Front desk person walked me through the check-in process and was very friendly. Doctor was quick and thorough with my check-up (for a sore throat)and even talked to me about student health insurance. Didn't do anything excessive or costly, just wanted to make sure I could afford what I needed. Got me in and out in less than 30 minutes with an antibiotic waiting at the pharmacy. Once I got downstairs, the doc called the pharmacy after she realized the antibiotic would interact with my other medication and quickly got me a new prescription. Good thing! If you are transgender, consider this a safe space. During my appointment, I was never misgendered or called by my legal name, even by the front desk person, and the nurse was careful with the language she used when asking about my last menstrual. The pharmacists don't keep preferred names or transgender status in their documents, so it's a bit trickier, but a much quicker visit so it's manageable. Overall, the staff really stood out as knowledgeable and caring people."
