"Honestly, to say that we were disappointed is an understatement. The photo shows what we paid $95 for at lunch time. There we no drinks, no beer, just water and really disappointing food. It is hard to believe that Dickie's tastes so much better, this is suppossed to be the best in Texas. No reason for us to go back."

"One of my all time favorites. Been going to the one in Lockhart for years, and this one is just as good. The industry standard in beef ribs. Try the smoked pork belly. You should eat here."

"The ribs were definitely above average, very tasty, fall off the bone tender, slightly moist, and cooked pretty much right on point. The four of us who taste tested them all agreed. The green beans and seeer tea were exceptional also. Unfortunately, both the fatty and the lean brisket had good flavor, but I believe were greatly overcooked, dry, and not moist and tender. I don’t know if it was who coked them or if this is the way it always is. I could tell by the color profile of the fatty and lean brisket that we were likely in for a grand disappointment . Check it out for yourself but the brisket at the Buc-ee’s in New Braunfels has the most flavorful, tender, smokey, juicy, perfectly cooked, mouthwatering brisket I have EVER tasted in my life to date. Compare for yourself."

"This was my first visit to Blacks. I see it everywhere and don't normally eat at a chain, but still consider it a local establishment. The place is big and will definitely accommodate big parties. I also liked that they had more than one person cutting the meat. Makes it a lot quicker getting through the line. They have a variety of side to choose from. I'm picky, so I chose potato salad. My spouse got mac and cheese, and my mom got coleslaw. Mom said her coleslaw was some of the best she had ever had, and my spouse loved the mac and cheese. I did not enjoy the potato salad. It had a weird taste too it, that I couldn't figure out. The main dishes were ribs, chicken, pulled pork sandwich, and burnt ends. I feel like there is a theme in the reviews I have had the last couple of places. My Fannin loves everything, and I do not. My burnt ends had so much fat that they were almost enidible. I know brisket has a lot of fat, I also know that some of that fat needs cut off. I'm not sure I would come back. It was VERY expensive and the flavors weren't there for me."

"This was the worst BBQ I ate in Texas! It could just be this location I don't know. I was jokingly told not to go and went any way YIKES!... I have a rule, if I can't smell smoke it's a joke... I didn't smell any smoke when I walked in and I still proceeded, I ordered brisket, ribs peach cobbler, pecan cobbler and sweet tea. I wanted sides but they looked like slop so we didn't order any. The sweet tea was the best thing I had. I would never eat here again. I threw all the food away after trying hopelessly to resuscitate the dry brisket and ribs with sauce. I couldn't force myself to eat it. This was dog food at best. I was supposed to bring food for a friend but I told her I didn't feel comfortable bringing food this bad. Ribs had zero smoke flavor or seasoning and the brisket had a pot roast texture and little seasoning so the taste was bland. Staff was friendly and there was a decent amount of people in the restaurant. Do not waste your time here. If you're in the area drive a few minutes up the road to Terry Black's in Lockhart 10x better food and overall experience."
