"Fast drive thru, runners did a great job getting everyone's food delivered as fast as possible. Food was delicious and hot. Can't beat the chocolate cake shake!"

"For the actual food, Portillo's is the best in the area for fast food. Still, I've been through the drive thru a couple times in the last month and both times the service was poor. They have one or two order takers running down the line of cars. The first time I had to "just know" what I wanted because there weren't any menus to be had. The second time both order takers passed my car and I had to order at the window. I wouldn't have minded if anyone at the window knew how to take an order. Then I got to wait for my food. I think they've gone downhill over the years."

"I ordered an Atlantic cod fried fish sandwich and large cheese fries through Uber Eats. Besides the driver initially passing up my location, when I received my food it was cold and neither the fish nor fries were cooked properly. The fries were cold and noticeably undercooked. The fish sandwich had soggy and wilted lettuce on it. The breaded fish itself was overcooked, hard and shriveled up. This is the second bad experience ordering from this location and three is not a charm with me. I work to hard for mine."

"I am a vegetarian and ordered the chop salad with no meat through the drive-thru. I ate part of the salad before hitting an unusual taste and spat out a few pieces of chicken. I've been a vegetarian most of my life and feel physically sick about eating meat. They told me that I needed to get drive back out in the night to return the salad in order for them to remedy their mistake and be given a new salad. When I returned the salad, they re-entered the correct order without meat into the register and insisted that I double check it to confirm that the order was right. I felt like this wasn't necessary and suggested I had just failed to order correctly the first time..There was no apology at any point and I was left feeling gross and nauseous :( I don't think I even want to eat the new salad, I still feel so awful about eating the meat in the first meal. The last time I was mistakenly fed meat was maybe 10 years ago, so I want to emphasize that this isn't a routine occurrence. It's huge deal for me, I felt a lot of distress about it, and I don't believe that they really saw it as an issue. Edit: I want to point out that the guest services response below does not contain any sort of apology either. 7/28/23 update: As management assured me this would not happen again, I went back a month later, where it happened again. I guess what I’m warning people is, if you have a strict dietary restriction, this may not be the place for you. 12/11/23 update: Gave them another shot, still small pieces of bacon in the salad. I think it's just something you're going to have to be comfortable with if you have a dietary restriction that, they're never really going to be able to be able to ensure that the restriction is 100% followed."

"I had been told this is one of those "must visit" places when visiting Chicago. I would definitely agree: you need to go here while in Chicago! We tried the Italian Beef sandwich, the combo (Italian Beef + Sausage), Hot Dog, Double Burger, Bacon Cheeseburger, fries, and onion rings. The Italian Beef was pretty good, but the Combo was where this place shines. The combination of Italian Beef and the sausage was very good. While I didn't personally taste the burgers, they looked good and I was told by those who did taste them that they WERE good! The fries were pretty good (crinkle cut fries), and the onion rings were good. Overall the food was good, the service was good, and this is a place that is definitely worth a visit!"
