"I will start with saying I work in the restaurant industry, and dislike giving poor reviews, but people need to hear these things. I ordered: Nacho Burrito, no beans, Queso on the side, and al pastor pork, along with fries. I got: A burrito filled with rice, a few cubes of tomato, 2 or 3 chunks of very sweet, strange tasting pork, and filled with the queso sauce I asked for on the side. No tortilla chips as advertised, and no sour cream. Fries were also cold. When I arrived to pick up, my order was sitting in a greasy bag on the counter in front of some people eating their food with no name visible. I waited at the counter and nobody greeted me or asked what I was needing, I had to ask a woman who was walking around cleaning where the pickups were and she said nothing and just pointed to the bag. Bizarre level of service that would be utterly unacceptable at my restaurant, I have fired employees for this type of behavior in the past and to see that this place has 4.8 stars honestly blows my mind - I highly doubt the owners/franchisees read or care about this type of review because they’re too busy rolling in cash from overcharging people for low quality food."

"First of all, I do NOT recommend this restaurant. The prices on the wall are false advertisements. The Taco Plate is $12.99. That does NOT include any meat selection. So, basically, you're paying $12.99 for rice and beans. Ridiculous!!! When I asked about the prices, the person working there said, "It should say 'meat extra'" Certain items were good. The beans tasted authentic, and the steak tacos were good. The Vampiros are horrible. Basically, fried old tortillas with cheese on it. It was like tasting cardboard. The atmosphere was super nice. And the service...well, there is NO SERVICE!!! You basically go to a kiosk and type in your order and pay, and then they'll call your number. This is a chain that takes your money and provides inexpensive food at exorbitant prices. There are hundreds of truly authentic Mexican restaurants in the City of Chicago AND surrounding suburbs that provide delicious food at reasonable prices. Save your money. Go elsewhere!!!"

"The first time I came here, everything tasted delicious and fresh. Second time, it seemed like quality has gone down. I guess you order from a kiosk now instead of the staff like before. The Cali burrito was what I fell in love with the first time. Staff was friendly and efficient at getting food out. Place was clean. Unfortunately, I’ll stick with local Mexican restaurants that give you more for your buck."

"I'm pretty sure I've found the BEST STREET MEXICAN FOOD right outside of Chicago and it's here ! The flavors of EVERYTHING was so delicious! I was able to try quite a few things and I was in shock at how each item I had was so good! The vibes inside definitely give you neighborhood Mexico taqueria and there are Spanish tunes playing! There's options for pescatarians and vegetarians, so everyone can enjoy their food AND they have a bar with select Mexican drinks! Eats I tried: Elotes Papas Espesciales Grande Plate - comes with a sope, vampiro, taco, rice and beans and your choice of protein Cali Burrito - loaded with fries, cheeses and your choice of protein Churro shakes - Horchata & Strawberry The Vampiro was my FAVORITE Because I loved the crunchy Tostado and cheeses, along with my grilled shrimp! It's easy to order your food on one of the touchscreen kiosk, and before you know it, your order is being served to you; it goes by very quickly! Naperville and Vernon Hills are the current locations, but 3 MORE LOCATIONS are opening soon! You have to get by here and try one of the tasty Vampiros, tacos or amazingly good milkshakes! The milkshakes use ice cream from heaven or something! Check them out and tell them that Planes & Plates sent you!!!"
