"UPDATED REVIEW: Brisket was very fatty. Lots of waste and not pleasant to have to pick through while eating. Fries were ridiculously saturated in oil. This was the case the last two times I've gone there. Pictures added to this review. City BBQ is rapidly dropping from my list of foods options. ORIGINAL TEVIEW: BBQ smoked brisket was very good. Was more charred then I customarily see, no visible smoke ring. No complaints, however. Sweet sauce is a bit darker than I like. Pulled pork was a major disappointment. Served barely warm, was neither pulled nor shredded, mostly just clumps! Could not have eaten it in a sandwich. Quite a few inedible bits, too. Would not recommend it. Fries were excellent! It's picky, but the ketchup was a generic version that had an off-putting taste. Wished the meal came with pickles, like at Real Urban Barbecue, also in Vernon Hills, IL. Mac n cheese was just a step up from Kraft make-at-home, so nothing to boast about. Kitchen was very backed up with take out orders and I had to wait 10 minutes longer than my dining partner for my meal to be ready! I'll eat here again to see if it's the same, better, or worse."

"Absolutely love this place, came all the time when we lived here but last year moved up to Milwaukee. We happily make the commute here, the food is always amazing and the staff are so kind and genuine! You truly get the sense they all enjoy working here and providing great service. Love this place and will never stop recommending them to everyone I talk to"
"After a long day of work on a Monday September 18th at that, it’s always super refreshing to experience great customer service. This place was a 10/10, it featured a very diverse staff that were all welcoming and catered to making this experience memorable. Each worker took extra time making sure to give me everything I needed to make my meal enjoyable. I never do reviews but someone has to see this please go here I promise it feels just like home."
