About the Business

Buona - Algonquin

Buona - Algonquin is a popular food institution located at 501 South Randall Road in Algonquin, Illinois, United States. Known for their signature dish, The Original Chicago Italian Beef, which is slow roasted, thinly sliced, seasoned to perfection, and served in its own natural juices. They also offer all-natural burgers, Chicago-style hot dogs, and all-natural, antibiotic-free chicken. Their personal pan pizzas are made with premium ingredients and crispy crusts, while their homemade pasta dishes will remind you of grandma's cooking. For a lighter option, they offer fresh salads with gluten-free dressings and protein bowls. Buona Beef was founded by Joe and Peggy Buonavolanto over four decades ago in Berwyn, IL, and has since expanded to several dozen restaurants, serving authentic Italian Beef Sandwiches.

"While the service is good, that crispy chicken sandwich I ordered suuuuucked. It was Coated in some nasty, orange/pinkish maybe mayonnaise mixed with something sauce. They don't state it comes with this nasty sauce on the drive thru menu, so surprise there. On top of that the chicken was tough and chewy. The rest of the food I've had there is good, but avoid that crispy chicken sandwich."

"Wasn’t eating meat today so I got the pepper with egg sandwich it was really tasty and fresh. My friend got the fettuccine Alfredo which was really good also not too heavy with good flavor. Really good potato salad, potatoes were cut thin which made the potato salad more flavorful. Clean and nice staff."

"Rip off!!!! Beef was finished after 5 bites. We also got the mash potatoes and sausage with peppers. Very small portions sized for alot of money. Definitely not worth going back to eat from there. I rather go to a sit down restaurant and get served for the amount of money it costs to eat at Buona......"

"We enjoyed a regular Italian beef with added mozzarella (gravy on side), a regular meatball with added mozzarella (extra marinara on side) and a regular fries. Both were delicious, we will definitely be coming back! Service was excellent, very helpful!"

"My boyfriend wanted to introduce me to an Italian Beef sandwich so we ventured into Buona. My boyfriend enjoyed his Combo Buona Beef and Sausage Sandwich with Mozzarella and Hot Gardinera the original way. I had the Buona Beef with slow roasted Italian beef and mozzarella cheese on Italian bread the original way, but it was too seasoned for me to enjoy it. I enjoyed the Watermelon Strawberry with a splash of Black Tea."
