"We came in after a comedy show, ordered drinks and an appetizer, the waiter looked like he was on Xanax or something so bad feeling right off the bat, he came back about 10 minutes after taking our drink order and asked if we wanted to order food and we did, another half hour later and we still hadn't gotten out drinks so we asked what was up, 10 minutes after that he comes back and asks what we ordered to drink and if we ordered food yet. Absolutely ridiculous to wait 45 minutes and not even be brought a water after asking twice about drinks. We told him we'd eat somewhere else and to just cancel the food and drink orders since he clearly didn't even remember what we got or to put our order in. Was hoping to really like this place as I had a great time staying at the Moonrise, but this was the worst service I've ever had at a restaurant."

"Stopped in for coffee & desert. It took forever to get service and we were the only people in the restaurant. The coffee was so bitter we couldn’t drink it. The ice cream was freezer burnt and the brownie was so dry it was hard to swallow and therefore not eaten. We stay at the Moonrise Hotel quite often. Once before my husband ordered French toast for breakfast and they sent it out with the plastic on it. We figured they couldn’t mess up coffee & dessert but we were wrong. That was definitely their last chance. They deserve zeros on everything except atmosphere. It was a very sad experience!"

"I would like to rate this with a negative number. We went to their Thanksgiving buffet. 4 years ago (when they were under old management) we had TG dinner there and it was very good. From the outset I had concerns. Their reservation app was difficult to navigate and I got a call back from the management. I told them that I was looking for a time window within the open hours of noon to five and was told that they weren’t making timed reservations. I was also told that they expected payment in advance, but then said that they would reserve us, and we could pay at the bar. We were assured that they could adequately serve all who showed up, regardless of the time. We were met in the bar by a guy dressed in a leprechaun outfit who seemed to be in charge. Unfortunately I did pay at the bar, before looking at the buffet, so I didn’t know until entering the buffet that they had no turkey left (it was 3:30), only prime rib. The prime rib was almost raw, and I say that as someone who prefers very rare beef. (See photo.). It was almost unchewable. The other dishes on the buffet were all terrible and weren’t hot. Brussels sprouts were cooked into oblivion. Salad dressings and other sauces/gravy weren’t labeled. There were almost no people dining and there were employees drifting in and out, but we struggled to get anybody to take an order for wine. While we were eating dessert, the leprechaun turned up to deliver us a glass of not-iced water. The same employee came around to sell us a Christmas event, menu in hand. This whole experience was like a huge spoof, but much too expensive at $65 each plus tax. Also, no steak knives for the beef, paper cups for coffee that looked like weak tea. Easily one of the top 5 worst restaurant meals ever."

"The food is a modest mix of incredible American dishes, there are also special entrees which always makes coming back worth it to see the creativity of the chef. My favorites on the menu include their St. Louis Salad, which is a big helping of salad with a great home dressing, and for an extra charge you can add a crispy skin salmon on top, which is pan seared to perfection. The aptly named eclipse burger is an organic double patty with cheese and my kind of shoe string fries on the side. And lastly, the blackened chicken sandwich is a fried chicken with a delicious sauce, one of the best chicken sandwiches in STL! Finally, the service is full of nice guys. The servers are kind and very helpful (though orders can take more time depending on the time of day. I suggest making reservations for a smoother experience.) and the atmosphere has a cool space theme, space memorabilia, the lighting fixtures are exquisite and the bar is always very welcoming! Speaking of the bar, the bartenders are wonderful to talk with and the award winning cocktails are all they are cracked up to be. Definitely check out the happy hour! I’d give the atmosphere 5 stars but the music selection is horrible and doesn’t fit the theme."

"Nice restaurant serving African and Caribbean fusion food. The chef is Haitian and definitely put a twist on the menu I knew over 6 years ago. I had the fried crab legs and mack and cheese with duck confit and these appetizers were fresh and flavorful. The cornbread was tasty but on the drier side. The bartender made me a Paloma cocktail and it was tasty (but too strong for me). Every staff member was welcoming and very nice at the exception of the host who was on a personal phone call when I got there and told me to go to the bar. She did not seem interested in the customers, but in her shift ending soon. The restaurant is not open 24hrs . It opens from 6:30 to 11:00 AM for breakfast and re-opens for dinner from 5:00 to 9:00 PM."
