"Best. Mexican. Ever. When a restaurant has been around for a couple of years, it's pretty good. When a restaurant has been around as long as Ruiz, it's phenomenal. Ruiz has been doing Mexican food right, before Mexican food was cool. We got guacamole and chips for starters. You can get creamy or chunky: We went with creamy and it was lights out. And the chips were flour, not corn, and salted to perfection. The steak quesedilla was epic. And it came with spur cream, Pico and guacamole. Not that they were needed, as the queaedilla was perfection in a tortilla. Get the Mexican corn as a side!!! There were no complaints on the chicken chimichanga and steak tacos, either. Our only complaint is all other Mexican places pale in comparison, so we will be disappointed every time.lol. Like I said, there's a reason Ruiz has been around for as long as they have. If you've never been, do yourself a favor and check them out."
"The food was great and the service was even better! My cousin Frank was a regular there and he recently passed away. They accommodated our family and allowed us to stay a little past closing time. They even gave us a free shot in remembrance of our loved one. We truly appreciate everything and we will continue to patronize Ruiz as we always have."

"My husband and I are new to North County, so we have been trying to find new places to eat. We came across this place just in passing, and we decided to give it a shot. This is our new favorite Mexican place ever! The chips and salsa are fantastic! We could tell the building was newly renovated, and it was so beautiful! The menus are not a flimsy plastic, but rather a solid board, so they are very modern and nice to handle. Our waitress was SO kind to us and our daughter, and very knowledgeable on adult drinks. Everything was SO delicious, and we cannot wait to come back and try more menu items!"
"This little gem had incredible food. I was told the tamales were a must and they delivered. The exterior was well prepared and the interior filling was well balanced to the masa. It's definitely one of the better tamales I've had in a restaurant. The tostada was quite delicious and the carne asada tacos were pretty dang good. Margaritas were tasty and flowing. If you're near the area don't pass this place up."
