Mascoutah Steak House

"Mascoutah Steak House has a nice, rustic setting. I ordered the 10 oz ribeye, salad and baked potato, butter and sour cream on the side. It arrived exactly as ordered. The steak was tender and grilled just right. I took half the steak home with me, as it was a large piece of meat. I would definitely go back."

"Went for my adult son's birthday last night. There were 5 of us. We tried the whole fried catfish, country fried steak, lemon butter salmon and Jager schnitzel. All entrees were delicious and the service was great. We made reservations and recommend it if you have a group, especially on a weekend. The restaurant itself could use a bit of updating. Other than that we had a great dinner."

"I heard that this place had great food and made the drive there with my husband for lunch yesterday. The food was mediocre, definitely wasn't worth driving there for ( 20+ minutes). My husband ordered the cod and got 2 little pieces, cod isn't expensive and that was frozen. I ordered a cheeseburger that tasted like it had zero seasoning on it. We were disappointed that's for sure. I'd probably be more willing to return as a town local...maybe. Not worth driving there from out of town! Also it is extremely dusty in there! Dust on the window sills, the decor, all over the fans, etc."

"Had been there in January and loved it. Took my mother-in-law Sunday, Nov 19 raving about how good it was. To our disappointment, it was a much different experience today. I ordered the sirloin well done, even said it was OK to butterfly it. First, according to the menu it is baseball cut but it was not. Second, it was nowhere near well done. I sent it back and it was STILL not done as evidenced by attached picture. They had also tried cooking it so fast it was becoming rubbery. I said I would take it and finish cooking it at home. Third, I ordered cheese curds, paid $9 to get very well done curds most of which were hollow from being overcooked. Fourth, my MIL ordered the shrimp & lobster scampi pasta an it had only 3 small shrimp. It was definitely a disappointing experience today."

"Updated Review: Their Fried Chicken is so delicious, the best item on the menu!!! Hubby's prime rib was just ok and their steaks are cooked on a grill. Baked Potato was dark and old,replaced with a different one. Green Beans, some were fresh, some were dark and old tasting. And there was a hair in his green beans. This visit was just mediocre. Chicken is the best. Chicken and dumplings are homemade but not much chicken added."
