Cromwell at Plum Creek

"When we first moved in to the community in 2021, it was great. It was a new community and we were one of the first few residents to move in to the building and call this place our home. After living here for almost 3 years, we moved out and there were a couple of charges on the move out statement that are questionable. We were charged for “Painting oil based stains and nail holes” as well as “Carpet cleaning”. After living in an apartment for about 2.5 years, there will be a few scuff marks on the walls which is normal wear and tear. Regarding the nail holes, There will be decor hung on the walls with nails and it will make a tiny hole, not enough to damage the drywall. Regarding the carpet clean, the carpet in the apartment was left in great condition with the exception of a small patch the size of a quarter in the guest bedroom from dried out slime (we were charged for the carpet patch which is understandable). After questioning those charges, the property manager, Kim stated since they have to hire contractors to work in the unit, we are charged for it. Kim and I had went over the apartment lease contract together and she also stated “It does not have to be in the contract for me to charge you.” Per the Austin Tenants Council, “A landlord cannot legally deduct for normal wear and tear. This refers to deterioration which occurs during regular, daily, intended use of the rental unit, for example nail holes in the walls from pictures or paintings.” To my knowledge, the condition our apartment was left, the process to get the apartment ready for the next tenant, the unit would have had a standard carpet clean, wall painting, cleaning, make ready, etc completed. We were told by Kim, we would receive a call back from the regional manager and corporate office on multiple occasions since last week and have yet to hear back from anyone. I’ve attached photos that were taken prior to turning in our keys. The apartment was not in bad condition."

"The complex is beautiful, clean, and located in a lovely part of Kyle. Our apartment actually overlooks the golf course! There are nice sidewalks to walk to all of the near-by shopping and restaurants. The complex has lots of great amenities, a VERY friendly and helpful staff, and regular events that make living at Cromwell fun. Though we have stayed for only a short time, it already feels like home!"

"Best apartment complex I’ve ever lived in! My wife and I were the first people to move in when it was brand new in 2020. Very clean and safe! Admin and maintenance was always quick to respond. We only left because we purchased a house in NB! Amenities are great and we used them as much as we could, especially the gym and pool! Kim was a great help when to terminating our lease early. Thank you!"
