The Study Supper Club

"The place is small, has a nice ambience and the bartenders (owners?) are friendly, but that’s where the positives end. The Study doesn’t take reservations which only benefits them- no need to manage the process and people sit at the bar (in our case nearly an hour) buying more drinks. Once seated, we were greeted within about 5 minutes; the servers were friendly but better suited for Olive Garden/Applebees, not polished or professional servers. The food: steak was tough and the baked potatoes were overcooked. Also they don’t have any dessert which is hard to understand for the type of restaurant. It was $130/140 for two of us, only one drinker. We wished we had just gone down the street to Uptown which is far better quality food with exceptional service."

"I've been here twice now. BOTH times have been AMAZING! It's a fancy restaurant with a very casual tone. You don't feel out of place showing up in jeans and a hoodie, but you can feel free to dress up as well! The employees are all really nice and dress pretty casually as well which I think is pretty cool. The study allows you to feel fancy but also feel like you can come there to party as well. I recommend this establishment 10 out of 10 times to anyone looking for great food and drinks in an upscale environment, without having to put too much thought into what you'll be wearing when you get there."

"Was visiting Starved Rock and stumbled upon this place for dinner after our first choice was closed for a private party. What a pleasant surprise! Loved the supper club atmosphere. Very cozy and warm. Our service was excellent and the food was delicious. My only criticism (and it is a minor one) was that one of the waitresses was having a lengthy and loud conversation with some of her friends seated at the bar about the shortcomings of either her ex boyfriend or ex husband. The entire restaurant had to endure this, and my wife and I noticed other diners rolling their eyes and chuckling at her sophomoric diatribe. Nevertheless, this is a great spot, which I would definitely visit again. Highly recommend!"
