"It's very relaxing and quiet. Great place to explore with family and friends or to just relax and have alone time. Signal is not the best through so leave your tech at home"

"I've been going to McKelligon Canyon all my life and have always loved my experiences. However those people who are walking, jogging, carrying or pushing baby strollers need to be extremely careful for oncoming traffic and NOT be outside the designated lanes. Do not take up half the road (this goes for bicyclists, and large groups - like soldiers doing their P T.) - just be aware of cars, okay and you do not own the road. I respect the military but just remember that there are cars going both ways, and the drivers may not always be concerned about you. And drivers need to respect and obey the posted speed limit. Just be respectful of one another and we'll function well together."

"This trail is really nice to hike. Right on the top if the ridge above the caves have an awesome view of both East and West side of El Paso. We hiked from McKelligon canyon to Transmountain (Elephant) trail, which has awesome views but with all of the rain we have received the last couple of months, part of the trail has washed away but still passable. We parked a vehicle on transmountain then drove to McKelligon canyon, where we started. The worse part of our hike was descending from the elephant trail, the trail has been all but been washed away. There are only tons of rocks now, which made the descent extremely miserable. If you do ever decide to ever take this hike route, there are blue painted dots on the rocks 3 to 4 inches in diameter, to guide you. Make sure you take PLENTY of water (camel back) and then some, have sun block, long sleeve t-shirt, snacks, a hat and some safety rope approximately 20 - 30 feet long. I can't recall if there is 3 or 4 areas where chain has been bolted to the mountain face to assist climbing 80 - 90 degree elevations. Before you start climbing, there are some significant drops behind you, if you lose your grip, you will not make it out on your own. Your fellow hikers will have to call a rescue or recovery team for you. Yes, it's that challenging. That's where we used the safety line for. The first climber didn't have the luxury of the safety line, but once on top, lowered the line for the other hikers to ascent. The rock formation called the window, which I have added a photo of, this area is only enough for two hikers. It took over 6 hours to complete. Please be careful and enjoy."

"Lovely views, if you enjoy quietness i highly recommend you to go, great to read a book or simply to take out some stress. If you like to exercise yourself it can be a great workout if you do the whole trail( expect being 3+ hours) take always more than one water. Energy bars help too."
