"Update: I pleaded with them not to release him while he was unstable. I was told by his caseworker Gina there was nothing that could be done. Come to find out that is not true and I’m including a picture of his discharge paperwork that says what to do in these situations. No one mentioned there is a process to appeal your hospital discharge.Instead they give the discharge paperwork to the unstable patient. He was released from UBH unstable on 2/23/2024 one of his prescriptions was written incorrectly and the pharmacy wouldn’t fill it. Several calls to UBH with promises to correct it and call me back, noting was corrected. HE IS NOW MISSING AND WAS LAST SEEN 2/29/2024 WANDERING THE STREETS OF DALLAS. I will updated this post if he has harmed himself or someone else! Beware! Do not send your loved ones here! They admitted to releasing a patient that was unstable! They said there was “nothing they could do as they are an acute facility and Texas has the worst mental health care system.” Well this place is definitely a part of the problem! Avoid at all costs. The caseworker Gina will not return calls or try to coordinate discharge. She would only call when there was an emergency and she needed help with talking to the patient. The nurse Kathy on unit 6 would rather hang up on family members and pass blame as to why the patient is being released unstable. This is the worst experience for this kind of facility that I have seen in the last 30 years since my family member has been struggling. UBH should take patient care much more serious. You are a Mental Health Facility after all!"

"The nurse in the adolescent unit was so caring to my special needs daughter and allowed my daughter to call as often as she felt necessary. We have had several children from foster care need to be treated at a mental health facility. Due to the nature of mental health, it is challenging to find a program that allows the teens to have physical exercise as part of the treatment plan! As an adolescent nurse myself, exercise and physical activity is important in the overall mental health. Not many short term programs offer this. Structured activities on the weekend are as important as during the week! UBH has weekend activities for the teens! Not great communication however, from the physicians to update the caregiver with the medical plan! This is an area for improvement!"

"I personally had a wonderful experience i got the help I indeed needed I would have to say the techs were super helpful and nice. Tech derrith is one of the funniest nicest day techs ever. My absolute favorite night tech has to be tech Monica she always made me laugh. Over all I had a great time and there also was one tech who kept making me laugh tech Alfredo!! Thank you for your service."

"I do not even know where to get started. I was a patient here for 6 days. 3 of those days I did not see a doctor. I was placed into the PICU unit where I did not belong because I was getting frustrated. I feel like this place did more harm than good. I even told the psychiatrist on the last day that I had PTSD from this place and he laughed. I was threatened by multiple staff members including the nurse Theresa and the tech Tre. When refusing medication due to not understanding they were extremely rude. I would hurt myself because I was so frustrated but nobody ever noticed except the other patients. The patients in the PICU unit are disrespected by the staff. The staff is extremely rude and uncalled for. If you do call to try and get some new information, expect no reply from anyone. I called and could not talk to anyone besides the front desk. This place will also give you “the shot” which includes a mixture of 2-3 drugs to basically knock you out. They threatened that to me on mulitple ocassions. Each patient talkes about the shot throughtout the day. I witnessed 3 shots in just 1 day."

"UPDATE: After receiving the "owner reply" (Below), I tried to communicate, but no one followed up or took anything in my review seriously. There are so many poor reviews with the same issues because nothing changes. Took my daughter for an 11 a.m. intake appointment for outpatient services. When we arrived at the front desk, they had no information about our appointment. We were given paperwork and locked in a dirty room. Yes, locked in. No one checked on us or communicated with us. After almost 3 hours, I banged on the door, and no one came. Finally, I was able to flag someone down and asked them to let us out so we could reschedule. She refused to open the locked door. A man came in, and I explained we would reschedule and to let us out. He said he needed to ask the doctor. What? A doctor who clearly knew nothing about my daughter or her needs or even that she was there the past 3 hours. After another 15 minutes, we were allowed to leave and given many excuses. I will never go back. I should have read the reviews more closely before stepping foot in this place."
