"A hidden gem not far from the city! I am updating this post from three years ago. Now, three years later I can say This place is truly amazing. I have now gone on two birding tours. I have seen 30 species of bird I never saw before! Both times were amazing. John, is a knowledgeable and passionate guide! There is one trail that would be stroller friendly(crushed compacted rock). I believe it is also wheelchair accessible.(check the website first!!!). There are a few benches along the trails I have been on if you need to rest. Take water, binoculars a good sun hat, sun glasses and a sun shirt. I would also recommend closed toe shoes. Don’t forget mosquito spray!(if there is water there are mosquitoes) cell phone works just fine on 5G."

"I explored the park last night on my gravel bike. Pure solitude and VERY out of the way. Due to the construction on several area roads, you can only get to the park by taking Pan American Road from the highway. Do not follow Google maps. Lots of wildlife, such as quail, roadrunner, and burrowing owl, along with hundreds of dragonflies, lizards, and frogs. The eastern most parking lot connects to a well-maintained nature trail, while the other trails are gravel roads, sandy roads, and overgrown single track. I had a strong Verizon cell single the whole time."

"Gem of a trail for hiking. Not sure why anyone would rate this park low. It doesn't have high traffic when we've been here so we can enjoy a nice secluded hike. Take bug spray, sun screen, and plenty of water. Enjoy a nice trail and leave no trace behind. This is what I believe is a reclaimed wetland. It has burrowing owls but to really appreciate them you need binoculars. I've seen road runners here. We walked around the entire park and it take the us about 1 hour and 45 minutes with a leisure walking pace. It was about 3.75 miles. There are restrooms in a covered area at the very last entrance or main entrance but they are usually closed. It's right next to the border wall."

"Fantastic area, really good for birding or just to enjoy nature while you walk around the nicely kept trails! On my walk I spotted a blue heron, great horned owl, ducks, sparrows, finches and a whole bunch of other birds! I visited in the winter so can’t wait to see what this place looks like in the spring!"

"We liked that their trails were well marked and cleared of rocks. It made it easy for my mom who uses a cane to walk through. It was disappointing there were no restrooms that we know of near the trail we walked. We got to see a few humming birds and a couple other birds. It was a very relaxing walk. Every do often there was a bench to take a break."
