"Fantastic hotel close to the Alamo. Everyone was super friendly and helpful from the front desk staff to the valet drivers. I loved the history of the building and how historic it was. Room was clean and cozy and I could tell it had been recently been touched up, so I could tell they keep on top of their maintenance. Breakfast was really good. If I had one complaint it’s that I don’t think the waffle machine or batter was good as the waffles were always raw in the middle even after going through the whole cooking process. I would, however, definitely stay here again when next in San Antonio."

"We booked a room 2 weeks prior to the “Holidays on Houston Street” market event and found the prices very competitive compared to other well-known hotel chains in the area. Of course we didn’t do our homework until a few days prior to check in, and here are some things to look out for: No free parking. $36/day on a public parking lot or $40/day valet. There are a couple of loiterers between the hotel and parking lot, so be mindful of what you keep out on your car. The building has a historic Art-Deco theme going on. Meaning dated elevators, dated windows (foggy/murky), and a lingering musty smell. Not a deal breaker for me, but for my better half, she wasn’t too impressed. Now for the good. Probably the best location if you’re a tourist. You’re right next to the Alamo and The Riverwalk. You can definitely skip the rental and save the parking inconvenience since everything is within a 10 minute walk. Service was great. Everyone is attentive and polite, especially the valets. There is a bar/restaurant on the first floor that faces the Alamo. Excellent for winding down after a day of walking/exploring. PS: The free breakfast is served here, which was average. No complaints there. The room was neat and very well decorated. 9.5/10 for cleanliness, only because it’s a dated building. We never ran out of hot water, and the daily housekeeping always kept our towels clean and stocked. We felt very safe staying here especially since there is always someone at the front door. Overall, a dated hotel that is well worth the stay if you plan on exploring the touristy areas of San Antonio."

"AWFUL. Room was dirty, roach crawled across bathroom floor. From the time I pulled up till the 10 min after I got to my room then checked out I was extremely grossed out by this hotel. The pictures online make it look so quaint & boutique like but it’s actually very dirty, dingy & smelled horrible. The windows of the entire lobby area were so clouded & dirty you couldn’t even get a clear view outside. The floors were dirty, front desk was completely cluttered & a mess. I decided to give it a chance anyway & checked in for my reservation. The elevator doors closed & they were filthy & looked like they hadn’t been wiped in a year. The entire hotel smelled like cooked food. My room was stale, the bed was ROCK HARD, one of the nightstands had crumbs all over it, flipped the bathroom light on & a roach crawled across the floor. Never in my life have I experienced a hotel so dirty. Immediately checked out & was refunded."

"Quaint. Walk back in time. Great downtown location. No complaints there. Rooms had original wood floors from the conversion years ago into a hotel. Found the hotel full of quiet charm. Beds great!!! Smaller rooms, but expected that. Super clean. Zero noise! Stayed on the 8th floor overlooking the Alamo and grounds. Breakfast was included. Would I stay there again? Yes!"

"Stayed in the King Suite this past weekend to celebrate my Wife’s birthday and NYE. We loved our room and it’s excellent view of the fireworks. The staff was all extremely accommodating, nice and professional. From the front desk representatives, cleaning staff, valet, and bartender. Everyone was great and made our stay an excellent experience. The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. The bar was fun. The breakfast buffet had generous options. This hotel is located next to the Alamo and sits on the Alamo’s original grounds. Lots of history here. It is an easy walk to the bars and restaurants as well. We will be returning soon!"
