About the Business

Pettit Private School

Pettit Private School, located at 701 South Deer Park Road in Decatur, Texas, is a premier institution offering child care, preschool, and school-age services for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, stimulating, and fun environment where children can thrive and grow. Our professionally trained teachers understand the developmental process of children and tailor classroom activities to meet their interests and needs. We follow a Constructivist Approach, allowing children to learn through hands-on, participatory activities.

We believe that each child is a gift from God and has the potential to learn and grow in all areas of development. Working in partnership with parents, we aim to help children discover their purpose, passion, and achieve success in life. Our goal is to prepare them for future experiences, including transitioning to grade school, and to build a strong foundation for their future.

Founded in 2006, Pettit Private School is guided by the belief that God is the foundation of all things. We strive to be faithful and committed in all aspects of our work, serving as servant leaders and following the teachings of the Lord. Come visit us and see why we are an extension of your family, dedicated to helping your child thrive and succeed.

"This daycare has gone downhill fast within the last couple months. My poor son was treated terribly by the administrator. She called my child AUTISTIC when he’s clearly not and has absolutely no credentials to diagnose a child w such a condition. She continued to lie about his behavior. I was refused an explanation every time about what led up to his outburst and how it was handled. In my opinion, sending a child to an office just to sit there is an awful way to cope, especially at just 3 years old. There are 15 children per teacher. Could you handle 15 crying, screaming, laughing, running children all at once? What kind of care can they actually provide if they can’t care for each and every child. I’ve walked in on multiple teachers having meltdowns because it’s incredibly overwhelming for them. If it’s taking a toll on the teachers mental health, think about what it’s doing to the poor children. I’ve spoken to his past teachers and they’ve all said he was amazing. After I left, they refused to give me a refund for a week that he wasn’t there for And we had already left the daycare at the time. The administrator refuses to answer any of my calls or voicemails. She is incredibly unprofessional and doesn’t care about the mental health of your children. Save your time, save your child’s mental health, take him anywhere but here. They are the reason my son is in therapy right now. I hope he can recover from this And I hope every child going there now can recover from the destruction they are causing to their mental health. For a Christian-based school, they’re not very Christian like. Just in the two days that my son has been at his new daycare, there is such a difference in his mental health and happiness. I wish I could’ve seen it before, but better late than never. Pull your children, their mental health it’s such an important aspect of their growth."
