Ashley's Playhouse

"I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I think it is important to share my experience. I had to use Ashley's Playhouse out of necessity about a year ago for my then 14 month old who had never been to daycare and we had a bad experience. I expected crying but every day I dropped him off he was full fledged throwing a fit, red in the face and sobbing. Really hard for a mom to see. There was one day I handed him to the care taker, only to realize his water was in the car, so i ran back 1 min later and she had already set him on the ground to cry by himself with no consolation. I asked multiple time to not let him take naps at dyacare because he would nap when he got home. Only to find out there were multiple days the caretaker just set him in a crib to be sad and cry alone until he fell asleep. I asked them to engage with him, play with toys, read books and was told they "didn't have the capacity" for that even though there was only ever 1 other child in the infant room and at least 2 caretakers in there. After a week of no change I stopped bringing my son there. I spoke with Ashley on the phone and told her about my experience and she apologized and said that she is understaffed. In speaking with a friend, I discovered she had the same exact experience one year before and Ashley used the same excuse of being understaffed. You would think a business owner would solve an issue like this at some point. I know drop-in daycare is't for everyone and I definitely learned my lesson but I didn't feel there was any care or compassion for my son and he was just left to cry it out on his own which breaks my heart to think about. I think this daycare is only a good fit for older kids who understand what is going on and can just play on their own with minimal supervision."

"We were coming to Austin for a kid-free wedding and I was freaking out a little about childcare. I am so thankful to find out about Ashley’s Playhouse when googling weekend childcare! I called to get more information and luckily was able to talk to Ms. Ashley herself. She answered any questions I had and put my mind at total ease. We went the day before to check it out and staff were wonderful. My 6 yr old had a great time and didn’t want to leave! My 7 month old was lovingly cared for and everything was documented! We are truly grateful for this business and they took great care of my kidos! Would definitely use them again when we come back to town! Thank you Ashley’s Playhouse and staff!"

"Don’t bring your child here if they have special needs as they don’t have the time to take care of your child. We have been coming her for a few years now. As my daughter has gotten older, she has started liking it less. She’s 8 now and we have recently found out about her diagnosis of a mood disorder. I informed the person at the front desk about her disorder and “if she has an outburst, she responds best to love and understanding. Asking her how she’s feeling and finding ways to work through those feelings”. They responded with “well we have 30 other kids here so we might not be able to do that”. Completely unacceptable response. If you are not able to take care of all the children’s needs, maybe you shouldn’t have a childcare business. I have found a different drop in center who is happy to help me with my daughters needs if she needs it. We definitely won’t be back to Ashley’s Playhouse. My daughter also says older boys bully her and pick on her here. She says she tells the teachers and they tell the boys to stop but the boys don’t stop and the teachers continue to just ignore the situation."
