"I randomly met someone who worked at Forge for Families & they told me how I could complete community service hour there (I got a ticket). The following Monday I called to get more information after I could not complete volunteer form online. Spoke with Beverly and she was very kind and willing to help, before call was finished we got disconnected and by the time I called back she was out of her office. I called back the next day to finish my conversation with Beverly & things had completely changed. She was questioning why I got a ticket and ultimately told me she could not help me. She basically told me that I could not complete hours within her department because I was a new person & if I had volunteered prior she would be happy to help, they would prefer someone generally "interested" & not just trying to get hours. I informed her I originally thought about animal shelter but since the person I originally met said they specialized with community service hours and helping UH/TSU students, I though this would be a better fit. She continued to blow me off, treat me like a random completely unqualified person, and tell me she couldn't help me (without knowing anything about me except my name and sound of my voice). I tried calling original person I met multiple times and left messages but no response. I'm very disgusted that a "Christ" based organization whose mission is to help Inner City Communities would act this way towards someone trying to volunteer and help. Yes, I discovered this organization because of something I needed but I was really looking forward to being a frequent volunteer and even suggesting this place to my friends, not anymore. Hopefully their actions are more welcoming to others who come for help."

"A Christian based facility, where you can take you kids to be a kid, while playing basketball, soccer and other various activities. I have seen FCA from Rice University there and the staff from the Forge they are all very pleasant."
