"I started the process. We are a 2 parent household, financially well off, professionals for the government and legal field, and no criminal record , etc. I provided all documents requested and photos. I have 2 children and 2 step children, but we do have more room, as our home is very large. We have wanted to foster/adopt a child for a long time and was ready to go through this organization that was recommended to me by a friend. The coordinator, Patty Grose, was very rude to potential parents during orientation when they asked questions, but we ignored that red flag. We continued and provided everything they needed. Patty was non responsive. She never called us for the initial interview as stated in their policy. I have had 3 emails with her over 3 months and she left for vacation for weeks. I reached out wanting an update on an FBI background check documents that she said she would provide, and she immediately denied my application claiming we communicated too much, and need a references to do a fbi background check 45 minutes from our home, which wasn't disclosed to me. The truth is, they do not follow their own procedures, and Patty doesn't want to do her job. I do not know how someone so mean, can be around children. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this agency. I have found another that is wonderful."

"I tried starting a process as a single parent. The coordinator decided to close my application because I can't take a child to church every week. She said I was not willing to accept the child church preference. I said I work full time and sometimes I won't be able to take a child to church. I can make sure the child gets to their medical, psychological, social worker appointments. But, I can promise I am able to take the child also every single week to church. The expectations are unrealistic."

"employees need to learn about policies prior to sending families through months of wasted time and money. rejecting a family prior to any final eligibility letters being delivered is not only unprofessional but a power trip that should be reigned in. The state makes the rules and Depelchin cherry picks their favorites and throws out the rest."

"So I started the foster to adopt process in April of 2020. From the start until now the communication has been very horrible. I imagine there are tons of kids who would love to be placed in homes where they would have individual attention however the staff don’t seem to be concerned with that based on their lack of assertiveness and assistance in this process. I completed the orientation back in April uploaded all of the required documents, attained the necessary space for the children and have not heard back from the staff at all. This whole process is getting really frustrating and concerning for me. Unfortunately, I am currently looking to start over with another foster or adoption agency."

"I have not used the services of DePelchin so this review is just of the meeting spaces, which I have used on a number of occasions. This is one of the most beautiful buildings in Houston, with lovely meeting rooms and a gorgeous outdoor area which is simply glorious. They have great amenities and tons of space. I'm always glad to be able to visit!"
