Alief Community Park

"Being an Alief resident for forty years. I have seen it flourish.When I first saw the blueprints for the new Alief Community Center, I remember when it was talked about years ago. Remembering when Quillian Church owned the land and how nice the area was then. Now to see it developed even more into this beautiful facility brings tears to my eyes. It's a place that Alief can be proud of as a diversified community. Sharing and caring that Alief proudly displays every day."

"I couldn’t believe this was really in Alief!!! I grew up in SWAT! And we did not have any amenities close to this. Our parks were all busted up and covered in trash. This place is huge and full of new equipment. There was so much for the kids to do. There are all kind of sports fields from basketball courts, tennis, ping pong, soccer and baseball. There was also a pool area and just lots and lots of things for kids to climb on. There were also many marked trails for walkers. There is a community center on site as well, inside they have a library and other resources. Best part, they have lots and lots of parking!!!"

"So the park here was awesome when it first opened. Clearly the city spent millions on this space and it WAS fantastic. Unfortunately they Clearly spend nothing on maintenance and security. The park is now vandalized and trashy full of unsupervised teens who are out of control and destroying the place. The music area is now obsolete as none of the equipment is now functioning thanks to people tearing it up. The park needs a warden on patrol and the whole area needs a 6ft iron fence so it can be closed outside of normal operating hours to prevent night time vandalism. Why bother spending this much money creating a space like this if you are just going to sit back and let the youth destroy it. Also parents need to keep control of there children and teach them better....if you want nice parks and places to hang treat them with respect or they will soon be closed and you end up bored with no where to go...same thing happened where I grew up. Horrible to see it falling to pieces like it is."

"The Alief Community Center and Park is such a beautiful family experience! My kids were excited to show me this center as this was my first time going and I was definitely in for a surprise! There are some amazing programs being offered for free. The kids truly enjoyed the pajama story time as well as the park/playground area."
