"I ordered product from Fastenal in Bridgeport, Texas, over the phone. I explained at the time that money was an issue. I needed 40 long carriage bolts for my project. After hearing the price, I ordered only 10 and explained that I would have to buy them piecemeal due to cost. The woman that I talked to seemed to understand. I was notified when my order arrived. Imagine my surprise when I went to pick up my bolts and was charged substantially more than I anticipated. I immediately asked about the price, and the man behind the counter pointed to a sign on the wall behind the counter which said that all orders are subject to a minimum of $8+ add-on fees. I stated that I had not been informed of the additional charges, and he said that was not unusual. In fact, he said, it was common for the employee taking the order to NOT mention all the additional fees --- and that it surprised many customers. He seemed to suggest that I should be happy the additional charges added to my bill were so small, stating that some bills had much larger amounts added. I assured him that I was not happy. This company seems OK about using underhanded practices to overcharge customers, and should NOT be trusted. I have no intention of doing business with this company again --- BUYER BEWARE!!!"
