"Great little soul food place. Have been in several times and my favorite meal is their Spicy or Regular Catfish with collard greens and candied yams. Baked chicken and fried wings were delicious as well. Staff is not that friendly otherwise I would give 5 stars. Went in yesterday and was having a few laughs with my family. Anyone who knows me knows I am a very quiet person so it was nice talking and chatting but Immediately the waitress cuts the tv/music on over my head. Immediately stopping our conversations because we couldn’t hear each other. Previously visits TV was on with no sound. I asked waitress to cut it down several times. Situation was tacky and we got the evil eye but we stayed. May go back again but doubtful if we will continue patronage. Will say the 4 times we have been there that we were the only people in the establishment and we went at various times of the week. Never once have I seen anyone pickup takeout. You would think that they would appreciate the business and would be much more hospitable."

"So let’s get into it! This review is not to discourage anyone from visiting. First the welcoming and jazz music playing was refreshing to the soul. Each person that walked in was greeted as if we were a part of the family. Definitely great to experience! 10 out of 10. Food: 5 out of 10 I wasn’t impressed with the food. Very disappointing for it to be a soul food restaurant. I wouldn’t say the food is the best however it wasn’t all that bad. The menu stated Catfish however it’s a fish substitute which is a GMO. The hot water corn bread and collard greens was very delicious actually I wish I had purchased an order to go. The macaroni was good just too creamy and thick for me but very flavorful. Although my first experience of the food wasn’t the best I will support this business again because of the many different options it does have on the menu. This Restaurant: 10 out of 10 So why this restaurant will get my business again, why I’m going to make sure they are recognized on my FB page, and why I’m bringing my friends and family here. For one I appreciate the waitress and owner taking notice of me not eating my food. I’m not one who goes out looking for discounts and reasons to complain so I was very shocked at the attention the owner provided me especially after I was trying to be discreet about it. The one thing I’m big on is a person who doesn’t allow pride to get in the way of criticism. I was very upfront about the food and how displeased I was. Not one time did the owner snap at me or became defensive but she was so polite and very professional; she apologized and even offered to pack me up another meal to go. SHE DEFINITELY was raised right. Very genuine response! I didn’t want her doing that at the time but man oh man I wish I told her to pack the entire pot of collard greens for me. She was a sweet heart and that my friends is why I’ll be back soon."

"Ida Mae’s is so good. Some of the best food I have had in Waxahachie. The service was impeccable. I felt right at home. Everything was clean. The only downfall was our Mac and cheese was not hot, but it was still so good. You could tell it was all made fresh. This may be our new spot for quick service, yet delicious food."

"I love Ida Mae's. Their fried catfish is always so good and my favorite thing is their collard greens. But you have to eat their pinto beans, they are the best beans I have had in a long time. It's all amazing and the people are great too."

"The hospitality and service was impeccable! Thoroughly enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the cool Fall weather. Everyone was extremely friendly and checked on us frequently. The food was pretty good. The only thing was that I found the collard greens and fish to be a tad bit salty. The menu stated, "catfish," but I believe it was swai. The Kool-Aid/Lemonade mix was great! Of course, The Cake Daddy cake bowl was superb as always. I'll definitely recommend as everyone's palate is diverse. I plan to visit again."
