"From check-in to checkout, a truly excellent experience. I am now seeing the new dentist, Dr. Pragna Malkaram, after being a 25 plus year dental patient of Dr. Hassell. Dr Hassell has chosen a very caring, much younger dentist to take over his very successful dental practice. Dr. Malkaram is very personable, obviously very qualified, and highly adept at the latest dental practices. She has “soft hands,” which are to the patient’s benefit. I have already had 3 appointments with her and she’s very efficient and her work is as good as I’ve been receiving for the last 25 years. She’s only going to continue to improve her skill set that is already set at a significantly high level. Kudos to Kim in the back office for always being there to make sure things flow so smoothly and to the front office staff of Izzy and Kiersten, who are graciously handling the transition of Dr. Malkaram into this “new” practice. "I’ve updated my review rating after the billing manager reached out and eliminated the balance. She explained my insurance is one of the only that does not cover out of network services at the rate similar to in network. That would have been useful info from the first call when I asked this question. I am giving the resolution 3 stars. Selecting a dental care provider is an essential decision that should be guided by trust, transparency, and quality service. While I respect that experiences can vary, I feel compelled to share my recent visit to the dental office of Gene Hassell, DDS, and Dr. Pragna, particularly as it involved interactions with the office manager, Susanne. Understanding Your Options: When inquiring about costs, I was told that the out-of-pocket expenses would usually be "never anymore than in network." Despite my request for detailed follow-up, I never received the information. Appointment Experience: Trusting their word, I proceeded with the appointment. My experience was less satisfying compared to other dental visits. Concerned about time, Dr. Pragna rushed the cleaning after I informed her that I only had an hour. Billing and Communication Issues: Upon checkout, I was billed $79.00, more than I expected. Susanne attempted to explain using dental jargon that didn't clarify the situation. Furthermore, when I questioned the absence of flossing in this "advanced service," I was told by Susanne, "Did not floss due to patient needing to leave. When patient returns for fillings we will finish the floss." This response left me puzzled and frustrated. Follow-up and Integrity: I was also assured by Susanne that the service would be resubmitted and, "we downgraded the dental code to a regular cleaning. Therefore we estimate that once insurance has paid us you will be due a refund." Later, I received an additional bill for $241.00. A Respectful Warning: While my experience might not be universal, it raises concerns about integrity and keeping one's word. The office's lack of follow-through and unclear communication, especially from the office manager Susanne, left me feeling uneasy. I offer this account not to disparage, but to inform potential clients. Trust, integrity, and clear communication should be foundational in any healthcare provider. Please take the time to thoroughly research and choose a dental practice that upholds these values. Your oral health deserves the utmost care and attention."
