"I have very health teeth and gums. I changed insurance and found this office as it is covered under my plan. Making the appointment was easy. I had the x-rays completed - very typical. Then the Dentist did the evaluation first which I am not used to. She told me my gums were at 3mm and overall were healthy. No cavities or issues, but she added that my gums were a bit spongey and she was going to put me down as gingivitis. I didn't think twice about it but she said an office person would come in to talk to me about a laser treatment. UGH. I didn't want to be sold anything, I just needed a cleaning. After 15 minutes the front office billing coordinator came in and man-splained gingivitis to me and why they were recommending special antibiotics, the laser, and the upgraded cleaning. All because my otherwise healthy gums were somewhat spongey. This wouldn't be an issue except the upgraded cleaning was not covered by my insurance, nor was the laser, nor was the antibiotic treatment. All in all, a would-be FREE cleaning was going to be $500 out of pocket. When I asked why I wasn't getting a typical cleaning the billing guy just kept saying "we just have to get you back to this healthy spot and then you'll go back to regular cleanings". Ummmmm, no. The billing code they wanted to charge was for a moderate to severe gingivitis cleaning and I had already been told by the dentist that my overall oral health was good. The more questions I asked, the more flustered he got. I have never felt like I was being taken advantage of at a dental office until this experience. As a healthcare provider, I know billing codes can be used unethically and it seemed like this is the case at this office. I also was creeped out by their hygiene practices. The dental tech that took my x-rays used gloves but obviously saliva is going everywhere during this time. She never threw her gloves away or changed them during the process as she went between the tools, the x-ray button in the hall, and her mouse/keyboard. Gross. Then in the room the tools were all covered in weird plastic in leu of sanitizing items? Most of them looked worn and not like they were just put there to indicate the item had been cleaned. I won't be returning to this office. It was uncomfortable and shady."

"I highly recommend Friendswood Modern Dentistry!! Myself, my 8 year old and my husband love Dr. Nathan and Traci! Personally, I adore Traci! She has been helping me dramatically improve my dental health and oral hygiene over the last two years. I hadn’t been to the dentist in 20 years before I started back with Traci and FMD. Never has going to the dentist been such a fabulous experience for our entire family. Going to the dentist can be fun! Learning how to maintain good habits at home can be so easy with Traci as your guide!!"

"My husband went in to get his teeth cleaned and was very disappointed. Apparently the Dentist barely scaled his teeth and then they had an assistant polish. When polishing they didn't even touch his tooth with the prophy angle. When the assistant flossed, she pushed the floss through the contacts and then pulled it out through the side, which is not how to properly floss. I called two separate times to speak to someone about having his teeth cleaned properly with a hygienist. I was told the office manager would call me back, I never received a call back which was very disappointing. We will not be returning."
