"I have a phobia of Dentistry - and am a professional, orchestral musician. I also, do - like millions of Americans - do not have dental insurance. His staff is the first indication of the quality of his practice - any competent Physician / Doctor's assistant who has to deal with endless crud from insurance companies, other issues, medication, pharmacies et al. could become bitter. His front office is the first indicator of where he stands in his practice- the fact that his front office are professional, compassionate, and understanding - first, says a lot. Second, is the detail he explains things to you. I have - in all of my years of pre-med, public health, and even working for pharmaceuticals, NEVER met a doctor who takes the time without hurry or rush, to explain everything. As compassionately, clearly, and -- bluntly -- as he can. He understands dental insurance and can logically explain the discount he offers to pay in cash. And their commitment to being open and honest about how much thing will cost, and how things will work, and - perhaps the most respectable thing - is his humility. He will be straight forward and tell you what you, he can, and together - can, and cannot do. I hadn't seen a dentist in almost 14 years (I'm 30) - he is a former musician so he understands the importance of how things regarding oral structure can affect your playing ability. I saw 5 other dentists from Uptown to Downtown, and none were as straightforward and explanatory as he was. He and his practice also have technology that is affordable but great. He was understanding about my anxiety and taking medication (as prescribed) by my psychiatrist. He is not resentful of the past but looks toward the future. I paid $50 for a consultation and X-Ray and he spent almost an hour discussing treatment options with me - never rushing me - never judging me, has a good bedside manner, and understands concerns people have. He doesn't judge you - and is straightforward but responsible. His rates are reasonable - and his office also offers financing options. He has referrals for colleagues who prefer sedation dentistry. I trust him, and would at the very least consider a consultaiton with him. My phobia of dentistry is not unique - and he understands this. He did not judge me for needing anxiety medication to just handle a consultation visit. His technology is great, and his staff is even more of a testament to his ability - I have dealt with many office staff in many areas, and they're great. I feel much. more at ease and am happy about he results of his work!"
