Kawa Sushi

"My first time visiting this restaurant since arriving in Houston. I saw the high rating on Google and thought I'd give it a chance. And I was not disappointed! We ordered 3 apps: edamame beans, calamari (which came with a sweet Chilli sauce) and takoyaki. Two mains: One teriyaki salmon main and one sushi platter main (both which came with miso soup and a salad) + one shaggy dog maki roll. We also got some basic drinks. Overall, fast service and delicious food! One of my indicators of fresh food is how rubbery the squid is in calamari. The more rubbery the less fresh the squid is. This squid felt like it just walked out the water. Tasted fresh! The octopus in the takoyaki was good as well! But of course I came for the sushi and the sushi did not disappoint. The nigiri was fresh with a good balance of acidity in the rice and a very large fish:rice ratio. I think staff can be slightly more friendly but let's be honest, we're going there for the food and the food delivers."

"Always order shaggy roll, one of the best and consistent rolls to order. The salmon tayokai is really good, but need to ask them to put the rice in a bowl so its easier to eat. The Tayokai (octopus) is delicious eating it hot. Dragon dance was solid. Tokyo roll i would put a hard meh on it, for me it tasted like nothing. Edit 10/24/22 White house roll is impeccable Burning man roll is good! Spicy salmon generic won't be ordered since inferior to shaggy dog Chicken donburi, probably should ask to separate the chicken, egg, and mushroom from the rice since the rice absorb all the flavor. Though this time when I ordered the batter or skin of the chicken was falling apart which was no good.... though the chicken was nice This review was coming from a person in which Wasabi taste like soap. "Today was my first time here and I was so impressed and happy with the whole experience, I can’t wait to go back! I had the hibachi steak meal, it was so delicious, perfectly cooked, generous portion and good prices. I can’t say enough about this placed you have to come try for yourself, you’ll be glad you did!"

"We've dined in twice and both times left pretty satisfied. We loved the black pepper beef and spicy chopped scallop. Yum! I liked the seared salmon belly. Uni and snow crab spoons were okay. They have a happy hour menu from 3-6. Service was good. We will be back to try more items."
