"$$ Really cute restaurant. The margaritas were so good and strong lol. Chips & salsa were fresh. We had the street tacos they were okay. Service was just okay too. I felt like we were being rushed out. It wasn't busy but the young girl didn't seem to happy to be there."

"My wife and I enjoyed our lunch tremendously. Cecilia, the server, was as good as any server could be. The food was excellent as well and the ambiance was just exactly what my wife and I needed. She had the Burger Del Ray and said it was excellent and cooked to perfection. I had the enchilada plate with beans and rice which were excellent. If you're looking for good food good services good atmosphere Cantina Del Rey is where you need to go. And if you get Cecilia as your server tell her the Lawson's said Howdy!"
"ATMOSPHERE!!! Cantina del Rio has a very fun / festival feel. Courtney was our waitress & she was top of things! She was kind & attentive. The chips were great and the water had a crisp clean taste overall a good visit ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"
"Wife and I had a weekend stay in Gruene for our 20th anniversary. Mexicans gonna do what Mexicans gonna do, so my wife decided our first meal should be Mexican food. We were not disappointed! First up, let me just say: 3 dollar happy hour margaritas! Tajin on the rim and they DO NOT skimp on the tequila. What a deal! Our server, Donovan -- who was awesome and helpful! -- let my wife sample the sangria is well, but the margaritas are where it's at. She had the pork street tacos and I had the shrimp tacos. They were both excellent. But here's the real kicker: every Mexican joint lives or dies by their chips and salsa. And these were excellent! The chips were super airy and bubbly and crispy and perfectly salted. And the salsa had great flavor and just the right amount of kick for both of us! We will definitely come back some day. If I had been in the mood for a burger, I absolutely would have tried their famous El Rey Burger, but I just wasn't feeling it last night."
