El Zarape Mexican Restaurant

"Went in today and found a piece of hair in my food, the waiter was amazing at handling the situation but the people in the kitchen were not, didn’t apologize or offer anything they acted like it wasn’t anything new. When I went to pay the women at the register was very sassy, and didn’t even explain that our order wasn’t on her system, just very sassy was like, “what was your order”, o told her and she goes I need the whole order, then I ask is our order not popping out she goes no we have to manually do this, so give me your order that’s why I am telling you this, she wasn’t very polite at all, I asked to remove the plate of food I returned due to finding a hair in it and she again proceeded to have this weird/nasty look on her face. It was so hot in there, like there was no ventilation, a fan was there but it was so so so warm."

"1st time I've been here so here is what I thought about this restaurant. Once you walk inside, the walls are covered with military memorabilia, I guess due to the proximity to Ft. Bliss. The service was excellent, not too many people inside. I ordered the large menudo(mexican soup) and my partner ordered the manchaca plate( mexican omelets). The manchaca was plentiful with a side of brand and hash browns. My partner said it was tasty and plentiful. My menudo on the other hand was decent portion,more like a medium size than a large. It was decent but lacked flavor probably more t.l.c. and it works have been delicious. Overall decent food, not pricey great service. Give it a 3.5-4 rating."

"We enjoyed our meals and the environment! Our server was great and so was the food. This place can her pretty crowded so be prepared for a short wait. Over all, the 4 stars for the ambiance and good."

"I was reluctant to write this review. When I eat out, I take many things in consideration: the location, the ambiance, the customer service and the food. I have to have ALL of these things in order to give 5 stars. That being said, we had a little trouble finding the location, as we are visiting here. Once inside, the decor was a little overwhelming for me. I completely understand paying homage to our military. Quite a few of my family have served over the years, including in the Vietnam War, so I get that. But again for me, it was overwhelming. We were not greeted immediately, so we were unfamiliar with the protocol; are we to wait to be seated or find a seat and wait? So we sat down. The service was friendly and prompt. The chips and salsa were really good. I no longer eat meat, but not a vegan, so I ordered the bean and cheese enchiladas. This is not on the menu, but they made it for me. The meal was really good and the red sauce was excellent. Not sure if our server was in training, she looked like she was 11 or 12, but she did an amazing job. She made sure we had water and kept coming back to see if we needed anything. (Better than some server that have been doing this for years!)"

"The carne asada tacos are a must have. Lots of flavor and just the right amount of food. I have never had a baked potato with tacos but it works! It's a family owned restaurant with lots of character. The two young men running the place were very respectful and attentive. I went to the location close to the airport and I really enjoyed the food. They did take a while to get me my food but I would think you expect that if you want fresh delicious Mexican food."
