"I love hiking here and also a great place to take the grandkids and my two Huskies. As you can see in the picture, I even go in the winter. The place is BEAUTIFUL in the summer. Full of wild flowers, trails and a really clean beach to swim."

"Went to Chicago to manage some business needs and stopped here on my way back. The call of Nature. The need to stretch my legs (it was a driving day round trip of 8 hours!) Of course this visit was unplanned and off peak season -there was still snow, in the northern folds of the dunes. I admit my total ignorance of this area. I understand after reading about Gary, this park and beach has to offer great relieve to the locals. The beach had a very delightful feel to the touch and I can imagine how relaxing, safe and welcoming must be bathing along a stretch of beach in the southern bend of Lake Michigan. It did satisfy my needs at the moment and, discovered a pleasant corner off the beaten path and in doing so, my inquisitive mind lead me to research a bit more about the local history. Two prominent names are cited in the picture. I am inclined towards Mrs. Carr. Look for her legacy (1872) Drusilla Benn."
