"The greatest facility that ever existed. No kill shelter and the humans that work here only get paid from donations otherwise they work for free. I had to do community service here and though I was there for time served. They were not."

"I added this incredible baby boy to my family just absolutely in love with him. His name was Bruce but it just didn’t fit him. I have a female named Daisy Duke and they just love each other. So I changed his name to Bo Duke. He is so smart and is learning everything I throw at him. He watched me on my treadmill and gets on it and walks after I do. And if I don’t walk he pushes me to get on and walk. It’s a good thing for me. He was very skinny when I first got him but is putting weight on and looking great."

"I've adopted both of my dogs through OCHS when they have had their adoption events at PetSmart in Avon. I got my border collie mix in 2016 and my lab mix in 2018. Andrea is the best and so kind! This place is mostly run on volunteers and does not get much government funding at all. They mainly run their shelter via donations. Please consider donating here if youre able! A lot of dogs get kennel cough or maybe some underlying mild infection while in shelters, which is perfectly normal. My lab mix had a skin condition due to being stressed and we had to take him to get meds and my border collie mix had kennel cough. These things really need to be treated once out of the shelter environment, so please do not hold an animal being mildly ill against the organization. It is something that just cannot be helped. I love my doggos so much and appreciate all that OCHS does!"

"I think that they do the best with what they've got. I've adopted two animals from this shelter and both had minor illnesses that required a vet visit shortly after adoption. The staff are kind and seem to genuinely enjoy helping animals which makes sense seeing as it is mostly volunteer labor. Being that this is a no kill shelter I think that they do the best they can all things considered. Also they feed the animals food that they are donated so if you can donate a bag or two of cat or dog food I know they would appreciate it. These are my two pets that came from them. Fred & Sophie."
