"DANGEROUS. This was my first and last visit with Dr. Shao. He seemed knowledgable so I agreed to do acupuncture + tens unit immediately after my consult. He inserted the needles, but had another staff member attach the tens unit. She told me she would be back in 10 min. I was facedown on the table, my entire backside covered with electrically charged needles and LEFT ALONE FOR OVER AN HOUR. I started having pain maybe 10 min in and yelled to get help, but no one came. Then I started having a panic attack, was crying (which made it more painful because I was hyperventilating and therefore moving my neck a lot - really painful when full of needles), and didn't know what to do because I couldn't get up. I started banging really hard on the metal parts underneath the table and someone finally came in - but told me they'd be right back and cut out - WHAT? 5 min or so later, she came back in and disconnected everything. She also told me to check for needles in case any were left in. Again, WHAT? How could I do a better job of removing needles when I couldn't see them on my backside? As if I wasn't traumatized enough, I then had to worry about needles taking a deep dive into my body when putting my clothes back on. Dr. Shao seemed shocked that I was upset and said "it's normal to release emotions after a session." This was NOT a normal session - I was left helpless on a table, in pain, yelling for help for over an HOUR. Not the same thing. Truly a nightmare. A $170 nightmare. The friend who told me about him had the same experience during her 2nd session and is still in pain from it weeks later - unfortunately, we hadn't spoken beforehand, or I would have known not to go there."
