North Peotone Apartments

"2 stars is being generous because I currently live here and only going on 2 months of it, but to say the least, I can see why most of these apartments are vacant. The price of a 3 bedroom + the electric is almost 2000$ a month for a 1,000 sq ft apartment. The people who live across from me I’m almost positive smoke meth. The dude is constantly pacing outside without clothes & scratching himself. The outdoor cats spray everything (including your AC units), so the inside of your place smells like cat piss. The empty units have direct entry from the AC units and I’ve now seen the cats inside those vacant units. They don’t respond to texts in a timely manner, nor complete maintenance requests until asked repeatedly. When I first moved in, half of my heaters weren’t even wired to work, so I was without sufficient heat for a few days. Now, with the snow, I had to say something about it not being plowed because my car got stuck AND I had to shovel & buy my own salt (per the lease it says that it is the landlord’s job). Just overall, stay away from these apartments. Not worth the $$"

"There are many reasons you should avoiding renting and living at the North Peotone Apartments. In no particular order, those reasons are as follows. There is a lack of adequate lighting, signage, and door numbering throughout the property. Improvement in these areas is needed because neither delivery drivers nor emergency responders can readily identify the location of all units, and in particular, those units that are located toward the back. No matter what you do to address this issue with package carriers, your packages will continually be delivered to the wrong door. The more important issue here is that emergency responders not being able to find your unit in a timely manner, if they can find it at all, could cost you your life. There is no security on the premises, in spite of this property having a long history of problems with drug selling and usage. There are no laundry facilities on site either. The water has high levels of rust and iron bacteria in it. These will leave unsightly, ugly, dark orange and grainy black stains in your toilet, sink and tub that are an absolute hassle to clean. You will not want to use the water to cook, nor to soak in to take a bath. The walls that separate adjoining units, in particular in those units toward the back of the property, are painfully thin, and will deprive you of any peaceful enjoyment and privacy, especially in your bedrooms and bathroom. You will be able to hear everything that is happening in your neighbor’s unit, and they yours, so much so, that it will feel like you’re sharing the same unit. Similar to the saying “Good fences make good neighbors,” I would add that “Good walls make good neighbors” also. Unfortunately, too many of the units at the North Peotone Apartments do not have good walls, which increases the likelihood that you’ll experience (as I did) a year full of discomfort, conflict and neighbor disputes. A final and critical reason to avoid this property is because it is currently managed by Ginco Management Inc., a company which has zero regard or respect for the rights of its' tenants. If you want to live safely and comfortably and get good value for your money, I would strongly recommend that you seek housing elsewhere."
