About the Business

Andrew Freedman Home

Andrew Freedman Home is a museum located at 1125 Grand Concourse in New York, United States. The institution has a rich history, starting as a retirement home for wealthy individuals who had lost their fortunes and evolving into a global arts hub. Founded by self-made millionaire and former owner of the New York Giants, Andrew Freedman, the home was created to serve the community and provide a place for those in need.

The Grand Concourse boulevard, designed in the late 19th century to connect the Bronx parks with the rest of the city, is where the Andrew Freedman Home stands as a notable example of architectural mastery. The home was established in accordance with Freedman's will, which left a sizable bequest for a charitable institution to assist those who had fallen on hard times. The home welcomed individuals from all walks of life, including doctors, businessmen, politicians, actors, and refugees.

Today, the Andrew Freedman Home continues to honor its founder's vision by serving as a museum and cultural center, preserving the legacy of Andrew Freedman and providing a space for artistic expression and community engagement. With its historical significance and commitment to philanthropy, the Andrew Freedman Home remains a beacon of hope and inspiration for all who visit.

"We recently needed a place for a repass for our lovely friend, and we were helped by Rhonda, when we told her for what the rental was, she was so compassionate and kind and took her time to make sure we had the right room, and we did it was wonderful, all the workers we're exceptional that day, I have worked for the hotel pierre for 49 years, and Rhonda was incredibly professional, I also trained Forbes, to make sure we get 5 stars and we did, I would give Rhonda 5 star's, and your worker's, great experience."

"Rhonda Is phenomenal! We held a memorial for my brother on 11/11/23. She went out of her way to accommodate our every request. AND, she was working on a Saturday, when it happened! Of course, the event was a success. People are now asking about the venue. It's lovely place, but Rhonda is the caveat! She makes it all happen with caring/expertise!"

"In the summer is nice as far as the blossoms and flowers. You can visit all the stray cats they feed. But unfortunately a lot of garbage on the ground."

"really awesome venue for special events. very spacious and clean cut spaces make it easy to traverse and the outside front of the property was a nice place to hang out under the stars. only came here for a party but i imagine when it's filled with art it's an exceptional place to walk around."

"This is a great place to explore if you live in the South Bronx. You might miss it if you drive by the Grand concourse because of all the trees (and some slight construction) but it is a beauty once you step into the gates. In honestly seemed like I had stepped into Alice in Wonderland. It just a stark contrast to what one would normally see in the area. Inside there are a load of art exhibits as well that are totally free to view. There's also a little space with tables and pianos that you could read at. Recommended"
