"got the teriyaki steak today which took a bit longer than it should have. My food was served cold; asked them to warm it up and they gave it back to me and my food was still cold. Waitress was nice though."

"Okay but not the best. Binto box Salmon was dry. Rice was so salty we could not eat it. We ordered two different sushi rolls but were served two of the same thing. I won't go back."

"I will never go to the other place again. My grown son complained that we always go there and he didn't want to try Ichiban. So I threw the mom card and came here. Needless to say, it was a good call. The man cooking at our table was fantastic and the food was season to perfection. What a show he did! Plus our sushi was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful time. Plus the prices were worth it as well!"

"There are two Japanese steak houses in Florence Alabama and the two are literally within a football field distance of each other. Ichiban is the newest to the area of the two between UMI and ichiban but there are some stark differences. If you have one person you can only get hibachi where you set at the table at UMI as ichiban's forces you to set at a booth and will not serve you hibachi for one person. Regarding the lunch portion servings the servings at ichiban are smaller and not as tasty, in my own opinion. The steak I got was extremely tough even though I had it cooked medium rare. It actually was cooked more medium to medium well. I also had shrimp which was excellent and about as good as could be expected. The shrimp was also large and in my opinion the best value. One other major difference is at UMI you get soup and salad with your lunch selection but at ichibans you get neither soup nor salad but have to pay extra for either so that adds an extra $1 for soup or a $1.50 for salad to the price. Ichiban's menu prices are lower than at UMI however the extra quantity you get and the additional soup and salad makes UMI The better value for your money. Both restaurants serve similar selections however the taste of the fried rice at ichiban's was not near as good as it was at UMI. There also did not appear to be much egg in the rice at ichiban's whereas at UMI you do have egg mixed in with the fried rice and it is a noticeable amount. Ichiban's is a good place to eat and the food is tasty but the quantity of the meat portions could be larger but offsetting that the amount of fried rice you get is more than you get at UMI. Both Japanese restaurants are good however I think ichiban's could stand some improvement in some of their areas as I do feel it a mistake that they eliminated the soup and or salad with the selection. Even before they eliminated the soup and\or salad they allowed you only one either soup or salad but not both. Over the year UMI has increased their menu prices and Ichiban's has maintained their menu prices. One additional thing I did like about ichiban's is at each booth they had a bottle of hand soap which in this day and time is a welcome addition to the table condiments."

"The Sushi was delicious, especially the Romantic Roll. And the deep fried cheesecake is unbelievable. The staff is knowledgeable and very attentive. Decidedly a top of the list place to eat."
